    Riddle’s first impression of Ace comes before Ace is even sorted into into a dorm, when he observes, “This one cannot even muster a proper reply. I pity his future housewarden.”

    At the start of Book 1’s duel Riddle collars both Ace and Deuce before they have a chance to attempt a spell, and Ace punches Riddle in the face for insulting his parents.

    Ace says that Vil gives off the same vibes as Riddle and tells Jack, “Mistake (Riddle) for a friendly hedgehog and you’ll quickly learn he’s actually a furious porcupine,” but he seems fond of Riddle all the same.

    In his dorm vignette we see that Ace has an impressive short-term memory, is adept at mimicking those around him, or both.

    Malleus says that he is glad he came to NRC because he was able to meet an interesting person who is not afraid of him. When Ace asks if he is means the Prefect, Malleus responds that he also means Ace himself.
    In a vignette Ace lies to Trey’s face in an attempt to learn answers to an upcoming exam.
  • Standing Up
    Ace standing up to people in positions of authority who are objectively stronger than himself is a running theme.
  • Ace and Cater
    Cater and Ace meet for the first time right after the opening ceremonies and during Heartslabyul’s welcome party, when Cater overhears him trying to convince Deuce to sneak into the headmage’s office.
  • Wind Magic, Pranks and More
    Ace seems to particularly excel at wind-based magic.
    Ace says that he is good with his hands, having practiced sleight-of-hand tricks so much that now he can perform them equally well with either hand.
  • Phantom Bride (pt1)
    The Phantom Bride event begins with Ace laughing at the idea of Idia being a “perfect prince,” only to be harassed by Crowley about the impending public relations fallout until he agrees to help.
  • Phantom Bride (pt2)
    After the rescue from Eliza Ortho encourages Idia to thank Ace and the others for their efforts, but Ace is less than pleased with Idia’s reaction of, “Would’ve been nice if they hadn’t cut it so close.”
  • Ace and Lying (pt1)
    Ace is wholly capable of lying to someone’s face without reservation.
  • Ace and Lying (pt2)
    In addition to stealing, Deuce says that Ace cheats “the entire time” when they play card games, “so it isn’t fun at all.”
  • Ace and Ambition
    As a mirror-image to the hardworking Deuce, Ace is constantly trying to get out of tasks or complete them as fast as possible, even deciding to give up on getting a magestone from the mine during the prologue.

    Ace’s first reaction to seeing Deuce at the opening ceremonies is, “Dude looks as serious as a heart attack…bet we’ll get on like oil and water.”

    Ace describes Deuce as “a boar who charges headfirst into everything. His internal breaks are busted. I feel like he sees me as a rival. I’d wipe the floor with him if he ever wanted to throw down, of course.”
