After Riddle is told that tarts are poison in a flashback, the only thing he says to his mother is “Yes, mother,” repeated four times in a row, once even after she has left the room, has not said anything and can no longer hear him, as if it has become an automatic, ingrained response to everything.
This is possibly meant to tie in to present-day Riddle demanding that he be answered with, “Yes, Housewarden.”
While created faithfully by the official subtitles, the official English dub changed this section to, “I do. Yes, Mother,” Yes, Mother. Yes I have,” Yes, Mother, we’re clear,” and “Of course, whatever you say,” instead, and also changed the pattern recurring in present-day Riddle, with Riddle demanding that he be answered with “Yes, housewarden” written into “Straighten up. Show some respect.”
The EN manga and EN game also rewrote this section of Riddle repeating only “Yes, mother,” when spoken to:
