Azul and Ortho possibly met for the first time in Azul’s first year, when he was deciding which club to join and Ortho introduced him to “a board game that simulated making trade deals.”
When asked what student he would choose to have as a sibling, Azul chooses Ortho: “He’s an honest, cheerful boy who cares dearly for his brother. I confess I envy Idia for having the adulation of such a sweet sibling…I smile every time I see the back-and-forth between Idia and Ortho.”
He also adds: “I’m floored by Ortho’s prowess at gathering information and doing calculations. If he were my brother, I’d have such an easy time compiling my monthly budgets and proceeds. Plus, when I finally expand my business beyond food-service establishments, Ortho would make for a powerful weapon, given how he can gather accurate intel with unmatched speed.”
Ace argues that “he’d just be a business partner, not a brother,” but Azul responds, “Plenty of brothers build and run businesses together. It’s only natural to turn to family when you need skilled employees.”
Ace says, “I guess that’s more believable than you just wanting a cute little brother” and Azul replies, “Why can’t it be both? I would also like a cute little brother.”
In a voice line Azul says, “Ortho assisted me with some accounting for my birthday. I simply must find a way to hire him officially…”
In a vignette Azul goes to Grim for help with maintenance on a set of Ortho’s gear, and when Grim asks “What’s the Octavinelle housewarden doing askin’ us for help on behalf of a guy from Ignihyde?,” he responds, “Ortho, with his mechanical body, and Idia, who goes to such lengths for his “brother,” Does it not make your spirit soar? My heart melts for such beautiful brotherly love.”
Azul claims to be “worried sick about Ortho,” but at the end of the vignette it is revealed that he seems to have had an ulterior motive: he receives the part that Grim removes from Ortho’s gear, worth enough to purchase “enough tuna cans to fill a gymnasium,” though Azul says that is “chump change” compared to the value he will be getting for it.
