Azul invites Silver to pay a visit to the boardgame club, but when Silver comes up with the idea of “modifying” boardgames for use by the equestrian club on rainy days by adding fingertip push-ups and squats, Azul excuses himself from the vignette.
Azul says that, in exchange for lending him a textbook, Silver offered to do anything for him on his birthday, but also that Silver pulled his baton on him during Halloween (“He took me for a miscreant…he must have been half-asleep”).
Azul seems to become frustrated during Master Chef when Silver, his judge, is unable to give him any more detailed feedback than “it’s very good” and “very nice.”
Silver apologizes for the extent of Azul’s efforts being lost on him (Azul: “Lost on you? In its entirety?! Surely you must be joking…”) and Azul concludes, “I’m not happy about feeling like I wasted my time, but no one can say the judge didn’t like it.”
Azul’s Halloween vignette revolves around Silver: upon seeing him looking worried, Azul approaches him to offer advice with the ulterior motive of getting Malleus’ underlings indebted to him, so he might become acquainted with Malleus himself and extend his business network to Briar Valley.
Silver initially refuses to confide in Azul but Azul assures him, “Maybe talking about it would help ease your burden. I always feel much better after discussing my problems with Jade and Floyd. Besides which, it seems to me that the crux of your problem is that you CAN’T talk about it with anyone close to you,” which resonates with Silver.
After learning that Silver is struggling to be seen as a figure of authority in Diasomnia Azul says, “Well, there IS a bit of a trick to it. Once you master it, I’m certain you’ll have no trouble seizing con—er, I mean, managing your students,” offering to teach him how to be a leader.
Azul takes Silver to Mostro Lounge for a three-hour lesson that ends with Silver saying he is feeling more confident, but when Silver reprimands Sebek for being rude and tries to forbid him from appearing before Malleus until he fixes his attitude Sebek turns on him with, “What’s with your cocky posture and pretentious mannerisms? Quite frankly, you look ridiculous!,” presumably in reference to the posture and mannerisms that he has just learned from Azul.
Sebek reveals that Silver’s problem is that he falls asleep in the middle of conversations, not with his conduct, but Silver assures Azul that he did “learn at least a little bit about what is required to become a leader.”
