When Vargas Camp group of Trey, Vil, Jade and Azul find themselves being hunted down by the Vargas monster without their magical pens, Azul reveals that he has a “considerable number” of magetones thanks to the boardgame club’s mining efforts of the previous day.
Trey is excited by what appears to be Azul’s offer to share them, though Vil is unconvinced (“You’re thanking him? Take another look at his face, Trey”).
Azul’s condition for sharing his magestones rather than spending the rest of the night as a mermaid in the lake with Jade is five days of labor from both Vil and Trey at Mostro Lounge (Trey: “I was ready for you to put the squeeze on us, but talk about predatory…”).
There is a lot of back and forth between Vil and Azul with both sides refusing to concede, though eventually an agreement is reached. Trey, however, does not try to haggle, saying, “You can’t put a price on life, and I doubt I have anything worth bargaining over.”
While Azul seems pleased with the projected boost in sales that the lounge will be experiencing thanks to Vil’s smoothies, it is later revealed that his haggling with Vil was a misdirect, and his actual target was Trey: “If we offer top-notch treats made by Trey himself, we’ll have a flood of customers pouring in!”
At the end of the event Azul is certain to remind both Trey and Vil of their agreements, and Jade informs Trey that he will be working in the kitchen (Trey: “Great, that’s where l’d prefer to be anyway”). Azul follows with, “Why, yes! Yes, it will! I expect a FULL display of your talents.”
