We have multiple confirmed instances of Azul blackmailing others at NRC: we learn that in his first year he blackmailed Crowley into allowing him to run Mostro Lounge on school grounds by holding powers taken from NRC students hostage, and the members of the Beanfest committee into revealing information about supply crates after he just “happened” to learn of certain woes that were plaguing each member.
Azul also blackmails Jack into teaming with him during Beanfest by threatening to reveal his location to the enemy if Jack does not comply, and blackmails Ruggie into joining them both on the threat of revealing to Vargas that Ruggie had been bribed into protecting Leona, a member of the opposite team.
Azul blackmails a reluctant Jamil into cooperating with him during a class project by threatening to reveal that Jamil had not contributed anything to their group assignment, and Grim into helping with a task with the threat of showing Trein a picture of Grim fighting with Lucius.
During Vargas Camp Azul refuses to save Vil an Trey from the Vargas Monster until they agree to volunteer at Mostro Lounge. Azul makes a show of haggling for Vil’s time, resulting in two days of labor and proceeds from Vil’s handmade, original smoothies, but it is then revealed that his true target was Trey: If we offer top-notch treats made by Trey himself, we’ll have a flood of customers pouring in!”
Azul is delighted to find Rollo’s diary in the student council room at Noble Bell College, saying, “Since it’s hidden in their office, maybe it’s the student council’s true ledger, proving they’ve been cooking the books! This could be the perfect chance to get dirt on this school. I must see what’s inside!,” but it proves to not be the potential for blackmail that he had possibly been anticipating.
During the Stitch event Azul attempts to blackmail the entire group into promising to do whatever he says for a week in exchange for rescuing them from the deserted island, but he is ultimately unable to fulfill his side of the deal when their clothes do not allow him or Floyd to revert to their original forms.
After awakening from his ghost possession during Spectral Soiree Azul says the he does not believe that he was ever possessed at all, asking, “Are you trying to set me up? Is this your attempt at blackmail?”
