Summary:
・Originally had all his gear designed and made by Idia
・Keeps his fashion knowledge updated
・Has possibly only designed and crafted one set of gear on his own (as of this writing)
・Possibly enjoys matching those around him
In an early voiceline Ortho says that Idia designs all of his bodies (“And I’m super proud of every one of them”), and it seems the gear that Idia would make for him would often be inspired by Idia’s own clothes for the school, such as the ceremonial robes, Ortho’s dorm uniform and his Stargazer look.
It is possible that such designs were sometimes encouraged by a specific request from Ortho (in order to match his big brother?), who says, “I had my brother build this body to match his dorm uniform!” about his Dorm Gear, and he gives Idia the idea to make his Burst Gear look like the school’s Ceremonial Robes.
Ortho says that his Fairy Gear is his first time making his own exterior but it was of Crewel’s design, not his own.
Ortho says, “Don’t I look cool?” about his Fairy Gala look, so that might be an example of an aesthetic he prefers, but maybe not an example of his equivalent of streetwear?
Ortho says that he updates his data regularly to hone his fashion sense, inviting the prefect on an outing to go do so, so it is possible that he does have an interest in fashion.
About his Fairy Gear he says that he does not often use components that prioritize form over function, but “I could get used to this fashion stuff.”
In order of release Ortho’s Rabbit Gear is possibly our first and only example of Ortho both designing and building his own gear.
He says that he tried to reproduce the White Rabbit in appearance, so the gear is possibly more of a costume-equivalent for Ortho than an example of his personal aesthetics.
While it is Ortho who draws up the blueprints for his Outdoor Gear it is Idia who builds it, and Idia also seems to contribute alterations to the design (“I’m really liking the red lines I added on impulse”), so the Outdoor Gear might also not be 100% an example of Ortho’s personal tastes.
It seems that Sam may have both designed and built the attachments of Ortho’s New Year look, and Ortho says he loves “the paper-craft style.”
Playfulland provides new look for Ortho during the event, about which he says, “I really like the mini-cape shoulder plating. It makes me match with the rest of you, doesn’t it?”
Combined with a possible preference for matching Idia’s uniforms (re: Ceremonial Robes, Stargazer Gear, Dorm Uniform, etc.), maybe Ortho enjoys designs that match those around him?
