Deuce and Cauldrons

It seems that Deuce has been summoning cauldrons from before enrolling at NRC, so the point that he had the nickname “Cauldron Deuce” back in his hometown.

Deuce tells Malleus about a time he was in a fight against five other people in his hometown and his first thought was to use summoning magic.

Deuce says, “and as luck would have it, a giant cauldron showed up. It smashed into a huge tree, and a broken branch fell right at the leader’s feet. They all scattered like cowards.”

Malleus asks if that had been Deuce’s intention and Deuce says it had all been a fluke: “At the time that was just about all I could do with magic…but after that, people stopped trying to mess with me so much.”

Deuce drops a cauldron on Ace before having learned his name and on the mine monster of the prologue multiple times, summoning them over and over again when they need more weight to keep the monster down.

Ace asks if cauldrons are the only thing Deuce knows how to summon and Deuce is asked a similar question in the novels, where he responds that they are the only thing he can think of in the heat of the moment because when he thinks of mages, he thinks of cauldrons.

Deuce summons a cauldron during the overblot fight against Riddle, underwater in a fight against Jade and Floyd, onto bullies during Halloween, for protection during Rabbit Fes and Vargas Camp, and threatens his tsum with a cauldron during Tsumsted.
