Floyd is very strict with his: besides Jade, there is one and only one exception, and that is Azul. Floyd himself explains that this is because Azul is Azul.
But Floyd calls Vil “Mr. Fancy Fins,” “Schoenheit,” “my fancy friend” and just “Vil” and both Jamil and the prefect by their names on EN, which he has never actually done.
This is important enough to Floyd that they had him give a canon explanation for his one exception of Azul, making this an unfortunate change.
Original Floyd: Aha… wha~t, you want to take me on? Betta-chan-senpai. Your beautiful finds are gonna get all roughed up.
EN Floyd: Ahaha… What’s that? You want a piece of me? Better watch out, Mr. Fancy Fins. l’d hate to see your best assets get all roughed up.
Original Floyd: ……………..hey Betta-chan-senpai.
EN Floyd: I got just one question for you, Schoenheit…
Original Floyd: Besides that, Betta-chan-senpai. You look really cool in that jacket.
EN Floyd: I gotta say, my fancy friend–you are ROCKIN’ that camo jacket.
Original Floyd: Oh~! It’s a total change! Is that really me in the mirror?
EN Floyd: Wow! Is that really me in the mirror? This is some serious makeup magic, Vil!
Original Floyd: Well then, Sea Snake-kun, you do a taste test. If it’s got Sea Snake-kun’s Seal of Approval, then Sea Otter-chan will eat it, too.
EN Floyd: If you don’t trust me, test it yourself. If it gets Jamil’s Poison-Free Seal of Approval, I’m sure Sea Otter will eat it right up.
Original Floyd: Little Shrimp-chan, were you thinking that sounds romantic just now?
EN Floyd: Bet that made your little shrimpy heart go pitter-patter, huh, (prefect name)?
Original Floyd: Huh? You’re a human, too.
EN Floyd: Uh, counterpoint: I know you are, but what am !?
While the English-language adaptation of Floyd differentiates between mermaids and humans for the sake of a (cute!) joke, in the original game Floyd says, “you’re a human, too,” as though he considers himself no less human than Ace.
And this point is explicitly emphasized in the novel, where we learn that mermaids and beastpeople are all called “human” in Twisted Wonderland.
Original Eliza: Next! You there, the one with the kind-looking tare-me.
EN Eliza: All right, next! You there, with that disinterested look.
(In Eliza’s original dialogue she is not describing him as disinterested, she is describing him as kind. More on tare-me here: Changes to Phantom Bride)
Original Floyd: “I’ll squeeze you”
EN Floyd: “I’ll throttle you.”
(This may be the one and only time where Floyd’s usual ”絞める” threat has been localized as “throttle” instead of “squeeze” and might just be a proofreading error.)
Original Floyd: You haven’t eaten yet either, Jade?
EN Floyd: Twinsies! …Get it? Haha.
Floyd being concerned for Jade not eating properly was removed from Beanfest, though it is has come up at least twice.
We do not know why Floyd seems worried about Jade eating properly, but Jade says, “my fuel efficiency is lacking,” so maybe something like low blood pressure?
We also see Floyd commenting on how Azul and Riddle do not eat properly, so this may just be a part of his character overall rather than something specific to do with Jade, or possibly a habit that he formed as a result of worrying for Jade?
There is an interesting edit being made to EN dialogue concerning Floyd and dish rags:
“My tailfin’s gonna wring you out like a dirty dishrag” and “Do you guys wanna get wrung out like a couple of dirty dishrags” were both added to Floyd’s dialogue, despite being something that he has never said.
We do get someone referring to the player character and Grim as “dirty rags” on JP, but it was Azul just once in Book 4 and not Floyd.
The line struck a chord with JP-server players, and now searching for “dingy dishrag” in Japanese results in Octavinelle fan art.
