Grim will often become envious of others characters: when Deuce wins a track-and-field award Grim’s reaction is, “How dare he show me up!”.
He is also envious of the clothes worn by the others in Firelit sky and he becomes determined to grow taller than Malleus during Glorious Masquerade, saying that he will get on stilts with the prefect and Deuce in order to overtake him.
Grim refuses to participate in the Phantom Bride event until Ace tells him that he isn’t needed, at which point he decides he is going with the group in order to prove how charming he is.
Grim happily buys souvenirs for himself in both Harveston and Firelit Sky (Epel: “somehow I’m not surprised”).
When Kalim’s wish for the Wish Upon a Star event is “for everyone to be happy,” Grim says it’s weird: “If ya ain’t usin’ a wish for yourself, then what’s the point?”
Deuce acknowledges that Grim is “a glutton who’s never heard of self-control and he can be really selfish at times.”
Grim seems quick to ditch classes and abandon responsibilities in general: in an important part of the Prologue he hunts down Ace (who is, himself, ditching out on a responsibility), only to get revenge by abandoning his punishment to run away.
He also runs away during Book 1, tired of the monotony of his classes.
Grim also attempts to ditch out on clean up after the drama of Phantom Bride, and he has a voice line of, “If Deuce comes lookin’ around for me, tell him I’m not here! I dumped cleaning duty on him then ditched.”
Both Ace and Deuce comment on this habit of Grim’s in voice lines.
Grim will occasionally make an astute observation about the situation at hand, pointing out the severity of their problems during Fairy Gala, convincing Ace and Deuce to cooperate during the Prologue and when Ace insults Deuce one time too often (causing Deuce to leave their VDC rehearsal so as to not have to put up with him) Grim observes, “You really gotta start thinkin’ about other people’s feelings before you open your mouth.”
