Grim names Malleus “Hornton.” Malleus seems to enjoy teasing Grim.
When Grim falls in a vase during the Firelit Sky event Malleus says, “Don’t indulge him. This is what he gets for mocking a local tradition.”
Grim does not seem particularly intimidated by Malleus, using him as “a glorified nutcracker” during Firelit Sky and going back and forth with him during Glorious Masquerade about their respective heights: Malleus says that he doubts that Grim could tower over him even with the aid of stilts if he gave it a proper effort but refuses to elaborate on what he means.
When Malleus declares he will be sitting next to the prefect Grim refuses to allow it, saying that he’s got to look after them. Malleus acquiesces and sits next to Grim instead, and Grim looks pleased.
Grim and Malleus have an interesting overlap during Halloween where Grim repeatedly says that he does not want Halloween to end, and Malleus then makes Halloween last indefinitely (at the behest of visiting ghosts, not Grim).
Sebek and Grim seem to bicker often: Grim refuses to let Sebek sit next to the prefect so that Sebek can sit with Malleus (Idia: “another endless circular argument over something completely trivial”) and Grim wins a game of rock-paper-scissors for the right to retain his seat.
After the drama of the fire lotuses Grim says that he did so much work that the prefect didn’t have a chance to do anything but Sebek teases him with “are you certain (the prefect) didn’t have to constantly bail you out of trouble?” Grim insists, “I was protectin’ both my hench-human AND Trein!”
The two get into a snowball fight during the Harveston event, instigated by Grim after Sebek says that their chances of winning the race would be far slimmer if he participated.
In a vignette Sebek orders Grim to lead him to Ramshackle to fetch chairs at Crowley’s behest. Grim has Sebek open the door to a dusty room in revenge, though Sebek continues to give him orders.
Later Grim observes, “(Sebek) gets real annoyin’ real fast when it comes to Malleus.”
After seeing Sebek interact with Malleus in a separate vignette Ace says, “nothing you say’s gonna impress anyone after that sorry sight” and Grim agrees, saying, “You’re about as scary as a mouse.”
The two also overlap during Vargas Camp where Grim observes, “There ain’t a tunnel big enough for this guy’s ego.”
Sebek invites Grim to join him in early-morning exercise before the Harveston event, and Grim refuses.
