Honorifics: Cater

Cater refers to Riddle and Trey with “-kun” and Ace and Deuce with “-chan.”

There is one exception in Book 7 where Cater calls Ace’s name without an honorific.

Cater refers to all 1st-year, 2nd-year and 3rd-year characters with the “-kun” honorific except for Ortho, Epel, Lilia and Sebek, with whom he uses “-chan.”

Exceptions: In addition to dropping the honorific from Ace’s name just once in Book 7, Cater will sometimes refer to Ace and Deuce together as “Adeuce combi,” and he refers to Chenya as “Chenyan.”

Cater will use no honorifics with Trey in serious situations. Thus far we have only seen Cater call him “Trey” directly before, during and after Riddle’s overblot, and when calling for Trey’s help right before he is kidnapped by the Vargas monster.

A dream-version of Cater seems to insinuate that he may have referred to Riddle as “Riddle-chan” in Riddle’s first year and/or before he became Housewarden. Later in Book 7 Cater says “Riddle-‘chan'” to Riddle, with “-chan” in quotation marks.
