Jamil and Jack

“So he won’t follow the enemy’s instructions, huh? Jack’s a little too stubborn. I wish he’d at least be willing to listen to suggestions for improvement.”

Jamil has a voice line about Jack being “a little too stubborn,” and he confronts Jack with Azul at the conclusions of Beanfest, saying, “I can’t fathom why you couldn’t just leave well enough alone when he was unmotivated,” in reference to Jack intentionally goading Floyd into a fight.

When asked whom he would take with him to a deserted island, however, Jamil chooses Jack:

“He seems like he’d be good at heavy lifting. I could count on him to haul wood and build us a shelter. And Jack has an acute sense of smell. That’s a huge advantage when foraging for food and fresh water. If I put Jack in charge of setting up our camp and getting food and water, I could focus on devising a means of escape.”

Sebek asks, “Essentially, you’d turn Jack into your maid for efficiency’s sake?,” and Jamil responds, “Please, I prefer to call it giving the right job to the right person.”

When Sebek says that he would “never accept someone as my liege unless I wholeheartedly respected them,” Jamil replies:

“Oh, I absolutely agree. That said, if we shared the common goal of getting off the island, I think Jack would pitch in. He’s a rarity at our school—someone who actually respects their elders. He never acts on impulse and causes trouble, and he never takes his bad moods out on others. He also never tries to fast-talk or trick people. I wouldn’t have to waste time with all that conversational maneuvering. If all we’re doing is spending a few days together, I can’t imagine there’d be any conflicts.”
