Jamil’s Favorite Food: Curry
There has possibly not been any explanation from Jamil about why he enjoys curry.
When Kalim brings an assortment of what he calls Jamil’s favorite foods in Book 7 he includes curry, dates, and silky melons, but only curry is listed in Jamil’s profile, while dates are listed as his disliked food due to an unfortunate experience with a bug when he was younger.
Kalim seems aware of the bug incident, explaining on Jamil’s behalf that he once found a bug in a date when they were kids and has hated bugs ever since, but maybe he does not know that Jamil no longer eats dates as a result (or has forgotten)?
Jamil explains that he used to love dates when he was younger, but after the bug incident he has not been able to eat them: “Even the sight and smell are too much for me.”
