Kalim has an extremely positive outlook. His wish in the Wish Upon a Star event is “for everyone to be happy”. When both Grim and Deuce tell him he is weird for making such a wish, Kalim explains that it benefits him as much as any other wish would, since, “When everybody else is happy, I’m happy too!”
Kalim happily refers to Ruggie and Leona as friends, comments on how nice it is for everyone to be in high spirits during Spectral Soiree despite their circumstances and is one of few students (if not the only one) to express regret at not being selected as a Stargazer during Wish Upon a Star. Kalim says his new year’s resolution is to “make this a fun year for everyone at school. I’d be truly satisfied if every day people could smile and laugh, eat good food and say to themselves, ‘Today was a good day.’”
He says seeing customers leave the school store with smiles on their faces is what really makes him happy, and that he is going to work hard to make sure everyone leaves in a good mood.
When Scarabia students accidentally release parrots that Kalim had wrangled for a parade and risk compromising the grand finale, they apologize and Kalim assures them that “It’ll all work out somehow!…You just have a seat and get ready for the best parade of your lives!”
When a musical performance at Scarabia risks cancelation due to a drummer calling out sick Kalim enlists Floyd’s help, assuring him that “banquets are meant to be exuberant and fun. That goes for both the guests and the hosts.”
When Floyd becomes bored with the repetitive drumming and begins to dance, Kalim encourages the dorm’s visitors to join in, saying, “Enjoy the moment or it’ll pass you by!” (This might tie in to a line from an interview with Kalim’s seiyuu where he said “I get the feeling that (Kalim) always wants to enjoy himself in the moment, because there is always the chance that he might die the next day.”)
When Jamil tries to get Kalim to take their Fairy Gala performance seriously Kalim responds “But the way I see it, as long as we’re committed to this, we might as well seize the day and make it something to remember!”
When Deuce makes an earnest but unskilled attempt at the StarSending dance and asks for Kalim and Jamil’s opinions Kalim responds that they can at least tell that he is “super duper motivated”, and that Deuce reminds him of his little brothers.
When Azul arranges for a group of Octavinelle students to form a line at the school gate to mislead others into joining them so that he might be first in line for the school store, Kalim insists that Azul had the best intentions.
During Beanfest he says “good luck” to members of the other team. Silver says that Kalim “never loses heart” and Kalim says, “As long as I can dance, sing and drink coconut juice, that’s all I need in life!”
