Jade and Floyd’s Mother: Georgina Leech
Grim describes Jade and Floyd’s mother Georgina as “taller than Jade…she’s like two Riddles tall!,” but Riddle responds, “I’M NOT THAT SHORT,” so it is possible that Georgina is not literally twice Riddle’s size.
Georgina says that both her and her husband are magicless.
Contrary to the information provided on EN, it is possible that Georgina did not oversee the wedding of the Eternity Float event:
EN-Jade said that Georgina “got the request to throw the wedding” as if her job is wedding planning, or she at least oversaw the entire event, but this might be an example of EN-server introducing new information that was not provided in the original game, which EN server has done before. More here ▶︎
EN added “throw the wedding” to Jade’s dialogue, but the conversation begins and ends with his explanation of the trial before the wedding itself, as if that is the only thing that the couple needed Georgina’s help with.
“Wedding Planner Georgina Leech” is possibly not canon.
It is also unspecified if Georgina is friends with one or both of the newlyweds: EN translated the word “acquaintances” as friends in one place, and the word 友人 as friend, singular, in another (while it might technically be one or multiple), so it is possible that EN also did not know whether Georgina is friends with one or both members of the couple.
Jade says that their mother “has always been a bit of a worrier,” using a letter that he and Floyd received from her on their birthdays as an example:
“I hope you two are getting enough to eat. I’m glad you’re enjoying life on land, but make sure you come back home once in a while, okay?”
Jade says, “She was concerned about our wellbeing, you see. That’s not unusual; she sends us messages practically every day.”
Georgina herself says that she always worries and wonders what kind of school lives Jade and Floyd lead (Grim: “We’re the ones she oughta be worryin’ about”), but while she does worry about her sons she is quite pleased that they are both attending NRC.
Jade says that their parents were “both ecstatic” when his magic manifested (two months after Floyd’s) and Georgina says:
“It’s embarrassing to remember how giddy I acted back then. It’s not that I wanted them to have special gifts, per se. It’s more…the more weapons you have at your disposal to survive, the better…When their magic manifested, it was as though I could see their rosy futures stretching out before them…it made me so happy.”
(Malleus: “A fine and pragmatic mindset, to be sure. You’re an exemplary mother.”)
Georgina explains that the twins were only in perfect sync when they were up to mischief, but she is “just glad they’re so full of energy” and hopes that they always stay that way.
Riddle says, “I shouldn’t be surprised to hear that from their mother. You’re incredible, all right…” and Rook agrees that Georgina is “so calm and serene.”
When Jade invites Azul to join in on the Eternity Float event Azul refuses without hesitation, because he does not want to see Georgina:
“Every time your mother sees me, she plies me with endless amounts of snacks no matter how many times I try to decline. She asks strange questions, bursts out laughing out of nowhere, stares at me blankly without saying a word…tells my mother a blend of truth and lies, has tea with my grandmother and engages in entirely unnecessary small talk…anyway, the point is, she’s difficult to deal with, and l’d prefer not to accompany you, given the choice.
Jade responds, “I believe all that is simply her trying to be kind in her own way.”
When Georgina later asks about Azul Jade says, “Azul said he didn’t wish to see you,” and Georgina responds, “That Azul, always holding himself back and standing on ceremony…”
Jade encourages his mother to speak with Azul at length the next time Azul visits home (“I’m certain Azul would love that”) and Georgina says she shall do so.
Georgina immediately recognizes Malleus as “the soon-to-be-ruler of Briar Valley” upon meeting him, assuring him that “Having a guest as famous as you at their wedding is bound to delight the newlyweds” of the Eternity Float event.
Malleus responds, “I’m pleased to hear that, and am grateful for the…invitation.”
Georgina tells Riddle that Jade has told her “so much about (him)” as Jade’s classmate. Riddle asks what Jade has told her about him, asking, “Have you ever told the truth in your life?,” to which Georgina responds, “He’s lucky to have someone like you in his life.”
When Riddle reveals that he is less than pleased with his nickname from Floyd of “Goldfish,” Georgina tells him how, when left to grow in the wild, some goldfish can grow into giants. Riddle seems pleased (“So goldfish have room to grow…”), which seems to amuse Jade.
When Grim is left as the only member of the Eternity Float group without any crab for dinner Georgina offers to share her meal with him.
After the students go to bed Grim seems to stay behind in the restaurant in order to hunt down his runaway crab, knocking over a bowl of sauce in the process. Georgina tries to send him to bed so that he does not keep people up when they are trying to sleep, which might affect the Eternity Float trials, but Grim refuses.
Grim ignores Georgina’s further efforts to send him to bed, which results in her making her way towards him (“Uh, that look on your face is scarin’ me! Say somethin’! And stay back!”), and then a cut to black.
The following morning Rook comments Grim looks “rather unhappy,” and Jade asks if Grim is excited to see his mother again. Grim says “it’s the opposite,” and, “She’s DEFINITELY you and Floyd’s mom, all right,” but does not elaborate beyond, “She’s one scary—,” at which point he is interrupted by Georgina herself.
When Georgina greets Grim he responds, “Eep… Look, I’m on my best behavior, okay?,” and Georgina says she has “taken quite a liking to Grim,” though Grim says, “The feeling ain’t mutual!”
Jade suggests that the group spend their morning visiting the Sunday Market in town. Georgina asks if she might be able to join them and Grim responds, “No way, no how!,” though we never learn what it was that happened in the restaurant.
When Floyd is “conspicuously absent” from the Eternity Float group Georgina observes, “Our Floyd certainly hasn’t changed, has he? And here I prepared so much because I was excited to see my two sons again after so long…very well. I’ll inform my friend,” surprising Riddle, who asks, “She’s…fine with that?”
Rook responds, “Jade’s mother seems to have a very calm and unruffled demeanor,” and Grim follows with, “Guess she’s used to havin’ two totally unpredictable guys for sons by now…”
Floyd seems to be in contact with his mother, with Jade sharing that Floyd has told her about the pet names that he uses for the students of NRC. When Riddle reveals that he is less than pleased with his nickname of “Goldfish” Georgina asks Riddle to forgive her son’s “lack of manners.”
Jade says that he is told that he takes after his mother (Rook: “Jade takes so much after his mother—both in their unassuming demeanors, and their unreadable expressions…”) but he wouldn’t dream of making that comparison himself: “It will be a long time indeed before I become like her.”
Jade seems very pleased with the outfit that Georgina picks out for him for the Eternity Float event, saying, “I never knew Mother had such exquisite taste in suits. The topic never came up between us before.”
In addition to picking out the outfits that the group wears for the Eternity Float trials Georgina also reserves space at a hotel for them.
Riddle apologizes for arriving unannounced, with Malleus explaining that he hadn’t expected Jade to bring them along without first telling Georgina that they were coming, which gave her no opportunity to prepare.Jade says hat doing so “completely slipped ‘(his) mind. But don’t surprise mishaps add to the excitement of the trip?”
Georgina responds, “You never change, do you, Jade? You always did love finding ways to put me on the spot.”
During dinner at the hotel Georgina cautions Jade about teasing the others, saying, “you shouldn’t be too mean to your friends, you know.” Jade responds, “Oh, dear… I’ve been scolded. How embarrassing.”
Georgina seems delighted when Jade managers to flip the boat of the Eternity Float trials, saying, “I’m so proud to have a son as wonderful as you.”
When Jade encourages the members of the group to put on an Eternity Float ceremony of their own if they ever get married to a mermaid Georgina agrees, saying, “The Leech family would give such an event their fullest support, of course.”
Jade says that he once gave his mother lipstick in a seashell-shaped case as a gift.
