Leona has a voice line of, “Never trust guys like Jade who’ve always got a smile glued to their face. It’s guys like me you can count on to be honest.”
During the Halloween party of Spectral Soiree Jade approaches Leona with a lemonade, asking about a disagreement that Leona seems to have had with Floyd. To Jade’s surprise Leona immediately apologizes (“Guess I must’ve gotten on your brother’s nerves without meaning to. Sorry ’bout that.”).
Jade asks for details and we see a flashback of Floyd trying to invite himself to participate in spelldrive club practice, which Leona handled by ignoring him.
Leona tells Jade that he “might’ve inadvertently” ignored Floyd while focused on spelldrive practice, but he has a voice line about how fighting Floyd is not worth it how it is best to just ignore him if he tries to start something, so that the incident might not have been as inadvertent as he claims.
Leona apologizes again and Jade explains, “Floyd has a certain admiration for strong people. You’re a rather formidable Spelldrive player and an equally capable mage. He must have wanted to fight you in earnest,” but Leona says, “You’re giving me way too much credit. Even if we did go head-to-head, I doubt I’d live up to his expectations.”
Leona says that Floyd did not cause him any trouble in the slightest and Jade responds, “Floyd and I should both be grateful for your magnanimity.”
Leona tries to end the conversation here, and when Jade says he would prefer that they keep speaking Leona responds, “You’re fishing for blackmail material.”
Jade says that Leona must be quite kind to have spoken with him despite being so suspicious of his intent and Leona explains, “I don’t wanna owe anyone from Octavinelle anything. So I gave you a conversation in return for the drink you brought me.”
Jade responds, “You’re quite socially conscientious. I’ve learned something new today.” (Leona: “What a pain. I gotta play these social mind games even on Halloween.”)
Leona and Jade overlap again during Tsumsted when Jade’s tsum massages Leona to sleep in the botanical gardens, crushes mushrooms to hide his scent and hides him beneath a tarp. (Jade: “But what truly impressed me was your willingness to walk right up to Leona with no hesitation. Not just anyone can get away with that.”)
Later Jade meets Ruggie and Jack on Main Street as they search for Leona, saying that they lost his scent in the botanical gardens.
Jade does not say anything about knowing where Leona is and, instead, tells his tsum that they will be going back where they left him:
“When putting someone in your debt, it’s important to make them appreciate what you’ve done…We should explain what you did and inform him where the Savanaclaw students are searching. That way he’ll know we’re on his side—and we can benefit from that later.”
Jade’s plot is foiled by Jack and Ruggie having overheard him, and escorting him away to “have a nice, long chat.”
After seeing Leona interact with Sally during the NBC event Jade says, “Why, it’s almost as though you’re some sort of highborn prince.”
Leona responds, “You know exactly what I am, but fine, since you gave me the setup —I AM highborn,” and Epel comments, “Watching Jade and Leona go back and forth like that is giving me anxiety…”
