In an early vignette Cater explains, “Leona’s kingdoms is all about being respectful to ladies,” and we see him use this to his advantage to convince Leona to join a party for a portrait hanging in a hallway of the school (Leona: “Portrait or not, a lady is a lady”).
Leona concedes to sending a photo of himself home because it is a request from his brother’s wife. Ruggie observes, “Ohhh, I get it. Because you’re always extra nice to girls,” but Leona insists that he isn’t “extra nice” to anyone: “They’re already way stronger than us. Goin’ against them only brings more trouble.”
During the NBC event we see Leona immediately take Sally’s side when she says that she has been told that their home is a frightening place, accusing the rest of the group of making up stories.
When Sally encourages Leona to try things before refusing to eat them Leona offers the compromise of finding his own non-plant-based ingredients rather than risk eating something that will give him indigestion, and Jade observes, “You’re taking this surprisingly calmly.”
Leona responds, “Yeah, because I’m an adult. I’m not gonna snap at a lady just ‘cuz she says somethin’ I don’t like,” intriguing Jade: “A ‘lady’? Considering the way you normally talk, I was not expecting you to treat her that way…”
Jade offers Sally assistance with dealing with the doctor but Leona disagrees, leading to Riddle calling him out for not being very gentlemanly. Leona responds, “Bold of you guys to assume she even needs the help,” revealing that he noticed how she poisoned the doctor and saying he will not judge her for it: “That puts you way above people who just sit around complaining without doin’ anything…My lady, I truly respect the formidable person you are.”
Riddle comments on Leona’s flawless way of escorting a lady when Leona offers her his arm. Epel says, “Leona looks so mature…by golly, he’s so cool…!”
During a chat Ruggie and Jack discuss Leona talking on the phone with his sister-in-law, with Jack saying, “I guess even Leona has to watch his step around some people.”
Ruggie explains that it comes from when women did most of the hunting back in the days of the King of Beasts. Most of the guards are women in the palace where Leona grew up, with Leona explaining, “There’s men too of course, but most of the important positions are filled by women.”
