Leona and Sebek

Sebek has confronted Leona for speaking disrespectfully of Malleus multiple times and will be reprimanded for being rude to Leona, often by Malleus himself, as well as by Silver and Lilia.

In a vignette Malleus orders Sebek to apologize for his behavior to Leona but Sebek refuses until Leona emphasizes the command, saying, “Your aggressive behavior toward him could potentially spark tension between our royal houses.”

Sebek apologizes to Leona during Vargas Camp but Leona does not seem to remember who Sebek is, sending Sebek into a spiral of being annoyed with such dismissiveness while simultaneously understanding why someone would consider all but Malleus beneath their notice. Sebek then vows to make Leona acknowledge him.

After wading through a swamp Riddle asks if he has “no qualms about getting muddy” and Sebek responds, “A little mud is nothing compared to conceding defeat to Leona!,” to Riddle’s confusion.

Silver explains, “They had a minor spat before we came here, so now Sebek views him as a rival.”

When members of the spelldrive club try to steal a lanternblossom on a cliff side that was first discovered by the equestrian club Leona calls them off, educating them on where such flowers are to be found and saying, “Only chumps bite at whatever bait dangles right in front of them.”

Sebek interprets this as Leona balking at the challenge of the cliff and decides, “I’ll do it myself and triumph over him!”

Sebek successfully seizes the lanternblossom and introduces himself to Leona as “the man who plucked the flower you gave up on. Remember that!”

Leona responds, “You purposely chose the more tiring option? That’s an impressive level of stupidity,” and leaves before Sebek has finished speaking with the parting words, “Later, Sebek.”

Sebek responds, “That mannerless lout has finally acknowledged my existence! Never again must I endure his ignorance of my identity! This is the first step in making him see he’s no match for the fae!”

Leona saves Sebek from Skully when Sebek gets transformed into a pumpkin, after scolding him for rushing “headlong into trouble.”

Leona asks if he should come back later after allowing Sebek the learning experience of being turned into pumpkin puree and Sebek responds, “It vexes me that I can’t even argue…”

Leona deals with Skully as Sebek narrates from the side, saying,

“I wasn’t expecting such a glaring difference in capabilities…He may be a foolish human who defies the great Malleus, but I must grudgingly respect his skill in magic, if nothing else. Who would have imagined someone so utterly irksome would make for such a fine ally?”

After Sebek is returned to his usual form Leona turns again on Skully (“How else am I supposed to vent my frustration?”) and Sebek comments, “What a crude, spiteful display of intimidation…EXCELLENT! That’s the Leona I know!”

When Sebek insists on taking credit for dispatching Skully Jamil and Leona disagree, wth Leona teasing Sebek with the threat of telling Malleus “about the pitiful way he was rollin’ around when he was a pumpkin.”

Watching the back and forth between Sebek and the others a teary-eyed Skully yells at Sebek, “It’s just not fair at all!,” and without confirming what it is that he has done Leona tells Sebek, “Apologize. Now.”

Both Leona and Jamil confront Sebek later on for failing to show any gratitude for how they saved him from Skully (Sebek: “….Isn’t my gratitude obvious?! Certainly you can tell from my demeanor!”), and Sebek reluctantly responds, “…you have my thanks,” in very very small font.

Jamil and Leona then proceed to tease Sebek about his outfit suiting him, with Leona saying, “At first (your clothes) were the only thing about you that seemed remotely upstanding.” (Sebek: “These two make everything so difficult…”)
