Leona says, “back at home, scars are proof of your bravery.”
A comment in the game guide says:
“Also like the King of Beasts, (Leona) has a scar over his left eye. The King of Beasts’ scar is said to be a brave wound that he sustained while protecting his pride, but when asked how he got his scar Leona will say ‘I forgot,’ and will not go into any detail.”
We have seen both of these things in the game, in a chat where Leona says the King of Beasts’ is a battle scar over his left eye.
Ruggie asks how Leona got his and Leona responds, “Who knows? I can’t be bothered to hang on to every dusty old memory,” and getting out of conversations by claiming he has forgotten something seems to be a habit of Leona’s: when Kifaji asks him about the previous year’s Cloudcalling Festival he claims that he merely forgot to attend, following with, “And probably will again. You know how it is.” Later he reveals he actually “blew it off last year” and had been planning to say that he forgot again this time as well.
Leona also did not attend the unveiling of the fountain that Falena commissioned in honor of the birth of his son. When Kifaji brings this up Leona responds, “Is that right? Can’t say I remember.”
Accused of ordering a barbecue with no vegetables or seafood Leona says, “I can’t remember every little thing I do.”
When Kalim describes a “super intense” round of arm wrestling between Jack and Leona Leona responds, “Sorry, already forgot.”
Leona tells Floyd about fire drills in his hometown, considered important rituals due to fire being such a dangerous threat in such a climate. Leona explains, “participation by royals is mandatory to set an example for the citizens. Those drills tend to draw a crowd, so they’re a pretty big event in their own right. Though I have accidentally missed one or two before, when I forgot it was happening.”
Floyd says, “Doesn’t sound to me like you ‘accidentally’ missed out on those drills at all,” and Leona replies, “Who can really say?”
