Official Hair and Eye Colors

Trey’s eye color is listed as “mustard” in volume one of the official Magical Archives Game Guide and Trey’s connection to food is maybe part of this, not only because Trey was raised in a bakery but because Trey himself is often comparing things to food and cooking implements.

So “mustard” might be how Trey would describe his own eye color, if asked.

During Phantom Bride he compares Eliza’s veil to a freshly-bleached dish towel and her eyes to grapes. During Beanfest he compares the sight of Floyd and Jack fighting together as being like a giant blender. During the Firelit Sky event he describes Kalim’s home to both turnips and unripe tomatoes. During the Playfulland event he compares an accessory on Ortho’s outfit to jelly.

There is also Trey’s personal history with mustard: It is listed in his profile as his most disliked food, from a time he ate a cream puff that had been filled with it (“I seriously almost cried”). Recently it seems he is attempting to overcome this aversion.

And Yana has commented before on how her methods behind deciding character eye color descriptions, saying that, when putting things into words for design materials, she often incorporates the character’s inner nature and special abilities.

She will use “sky” to describe the eye color of an ambitious character, and “smoky” to describe the eye color of an aloof character. She says that she enjoys contemplating on not just the hue, but also whether colors are harsh, sweet, natural, artificial, etc.
