We have had many examples in the game of people becoming injured in various ways and requiring both time and a medical specialist in order to recover:
・Trey catching a cold
・Riddle catching a cold
・Silver twisting his ankle
・A student getting burned by a cauldron (by Ruggie)
・A student hurting their ankle (by Ruggie)
・Trey hurting his ankle, to the point he is “on crutches for a while” (by Ruggie)
・Jamil cutting himself with a knife (by Ruggie)
・Ruggie getting injured in the spelldrive tournament (in revenge for all the people he’d injured earlier) and dried out during Leona’s overblot
・Post-overblot medical treatment
・Ace and Deuce injured by CHARON
・Riddle getting too close to Tartarus
・Vil getting too close to Tartarus
There are also references to NRC’s “resident counselors and medical mages appointed by the Department of Education.”
In Book 5 Vil mentions taking “a painkiller potion” but nothing about a healing potion, so if such a thing exists it seems that the students do not have access to them.
And they do seem to exist, or at least they used to, if you were a member of the royal guard of Briarland:
They receive healing potions from a fae soldier they encounter, and Baul provides an injured General Lilia with a potion after he is hurt in a trap.
We do not know the nature of his injuries but it seems the trap came close to killing him, and the potion that he drinks is not an instantaneous cure-all: even after drinking he is still too injured to teleport.
And despite their access to this potion that was able to keep Lilia alive there are still wounded soldiers amongst their men, and Baul mentions combat medics, whom it doesn’t seem they would need if healing potions were both useful and plentiful. Maybe only used as a last resort?
And magical healing is mentioned again in Book 7: the magic suffusing Mount Dread, that Lilia says “empowers us fae” and “could end up harmful” to humans.
So it may be safe to say that healing magic is not really practiced at NRC?
But there was an interesting revelation in Book 7: Sam has access to healing potions.
But Sam is very mysterious, and a part of his overall role is being able to provide things that he shouldn’t have access to, such as fairy dust.
It would be odd for Trey to be on crutches and for athletes to be dropping out of tournaments if they could all instantly heal regardless of injury, so it is possible that they cannot, and healing potions are exclusively for things like fatal injuries?
