What are the designs on Kalim’s arms?

The designs on Kalim’s arms are mentioned once in the Magical Archives Game Guide (vol.1):

「両腕にペイントが入ります」- “Paint applied on both arms.”

It seems possible that this means they are a form of body paint, but there has been no in-game explanation as of this writing.
