Riddle and Roses

Riddle says that one of the Queen of Hearts’ favorite hobbies was admiring roses, and Riddle seems partial to roses himself: Trey says that one of the first things Riddle did after becoming housewarden “was to thoroughly fix up the rose maze,” and the sight of the maze turned into “such a mess” during Riddle’s dream is “a sign that Riddle’s totally lost sight of who he is.”

Riddle’s tsum also seems to have an interest in red roses.

Riddle has a voice line about the rose on the lapel of his Ghost Marriage outfit having “a most pleasant fragrance,” and when Azul offers a selection of essential oils (along with a lamp/scent diffuser) for his birthday Riddle chooses a rose scent, saying, “It reminds me of when the roses in Heartslabyul are in full bloom. I quite like it.”

Making rose jam is possibly a part of living at Heartslabyul dorm: Trey provides some during the Lanter event and Riddle explains, “There’s a certain rule that states you have to put rose jam on scones at tea parties…”

During the same event Riddle crafts a pot from clay that he says “could be used for growing roses” (in his attempt to fire the pottery Malleus accidentally turns it into soot).

Rook compares Riddle himself to roses, saying, “The Roi des Roses possesses such sharpness and intensity! He is the very embodiment of the crimson flower bedecked with thorns.”
