Riddle is from Crimson City, the capital of the Queendom of Roses. While the country itself is an island, the capital city is inland. It has a large canal, but does not border the ocean. Trey says that Riddle lived “in the fanciest house in the neighborhood” on a small hill, and his home has a garden.
Riddle says that “noblesse oblige” is a prominent school of thought that has a long history in his home country—“Those with power and status have a duty to aid the weak, proportional to their station”—and he simply honors that precept.
During the Lantern event the students have an “egg-and-spoon race,” which Riddle says is “a staple competition held on field days in the Queendom of Roses.”
Riddle says that, on Halloween, children in Crimson City “usually gather in the plaza and have a party,” where they play games such as bobbing for apples, “a traditional Halloween game played in the Queendom of Roses.”
When Azul asks why Riddle has not skipped any grades in school Riddle explains, “Grade-skipping isn’t really done in the Queendom of Roses” and “you have to be at least 24 to get a medical license in the Queendom of Roses.”
When speaking about pedal boards with Jade, Riddle says, “If you’re interested in unique boats, we’ve got flamingo-shaped ones in the Queendom of Roses.”
