Rook and Friendship

Rook has a voiceline of, “Time spent with good friends is irreplaceable.”

Rook refers to unknown ghosts as his friends during Spectral Soiree (Trey: “You often beat the tar out of your friends?”) and says he is grateful for Ortho’s friendship in Book 6.

While he does mention having “friends” plural, he consistently uses the word “friend” to refer to two characters specifically: Trey and Vil.

Rook refers to Trey repeatedly as a friend throughout Spectral Soiree, the Wish Upon a Star event and Beanfest.

Rook also refers to Vil repeatedly as his friend, calling him a “beloved friend” at least twice and his “beloved Roi du Poison” at least once (he also says “beloved school friends” in reference to Vil, Leona, Jamil, Azul and Riddle, and possibly including Ortho and Idia).

Rook also uses the word “盟友” just twice in the game, which EN translated as “boon companion”: once in reference to Cater and Trey’s relationship, and once in reference to his and Vil’s.

When Jade refers to the group of Rook, Malleus, Grim, Riddle and the prefect as his “best friends at Night Raven College” Rook agrees, saying that they are all the very best of friends.
