Idia and Ruggie overlap in an early vignette where Ruggie happens upon Idia taking notes on Jack’s physique as he runs.
In exchange for not revealing to Jack that Idia has been stalking him, Ruggie says that Idia owes him a big favor: “And don’t you forget it when you become head of the Shroud family.”
At the beginning of Glorious Masquerade Idia seems to recognize something of a kindred spirit in Ruggie (“Ruggie’s got some shade going on underneath his athletic exterior…”), They agree that they seem to be talking on different wavelengths.
After Royal Sword Academy students sacrifice themselves to save the NRC group Ruggie and Idia agree to abandon them to Rollo (Ruggie: “I personally couldn’t care less what happens to the Royal Sword guys…” – Idia: “Yeah, they kinda brought it on themselves. We could just go home right now”).
When Trein becomes so upset that he begins to cry Idia tells Ruggie to apologize, while Ruggie argues that what Idia said was way worse (Jamil: “You’re both terrible”).
When given the choice to go into the town or to the bell tower Ruggie chooses the tower group (“More human shields-ah, I mean, the more people there are, the better my odds of survival are”) and Idia says, “I can respect how Ruggie always looks out for Number One.”
After Ruggie assures Deuce that Epel and Riddle will be able to handle the firelotuses on their own Idia whispers to him, “You lie as easily as you breathe. You know they don’t stand a chance out there,” and Ruggie responds, “Well, yeah, but he doesn’t need to know that, does he?”
After the drama of Glorious Masquerade Silver and Sebek announce that they will be heaving Jamil and Ruggie into the air in honor of their exploits, but they are saved by Grim. Ruggie encourages them to toss Idia into the air instead. Idia is saved by Malleus.
Ruggie gets along well with Ortho during Spectral Soiree. The two agree to visit an escape room with Riddle and sharing in the excitement of a shipwreck that Riddle doesn’t seem to understand.
Ruggie and Ortho also discuss “Captain Mustache”, a book series with which they are both familiar, and bond over mutual confusion of Riddle being “a weird guy”.
