At the conclusion of the Glorious Masquerade event Sebek compliments the Ruggie and Jamil on their efforts. Jamil responds, “Yes, acting as bait wasn’t easy by any stretch with just the two of us. But we had to do it for all of you. It didn’t matter what happened to us, as long as we could draw them away. Isn’t that right, Ruggie?” And Ruggie agrees: “That’s us —the guys who put it all on the line for their peers!”
Sebek again praises them for their dedication and Silver said he should learn from their examples (Ruggie: “By all means, do”).
Afterwards the two whisper together about their secret, with Jamil saying “And that’s why I could only pull off that plan with you.”
Ruggie responds, “Wow, Jamil, you must really trust me! Y’know, I see you in a whole different light now. I always thought you were the long-suffering type, but boy, you know how to get a job done. Sure helped me out,” and Jamil says, “It’s scary getting a compliment from you, Ruggie. There’s bound to be a catch.” Ruggie responds, “Right back atcha, Jamil. I can’t take any compliment from you at face value.”
The two overlap again at the end of the night, with Sebek approaching them both to demand their impressions of Malleus’ singing. They each try to get Sebek to focus on the other one until Ruggie overhears the Noble Bell College vice president discussing how he is too nervous to talk with Malleus.
Ruggie tells Sebek, receiving support from Jamil (“Oh, yes. I believe I did hear him say that”), both successfully escaping another unpleasant situation by sacrificing another Noble Bell College student.
