While Silver caught up in his own despair at the revelation of his lineage, Lilia appears to him. Lilia calls him the Dawn Knight and he is suddenly in the Dawn Knight’s body, with Lilia threatening to kill him for what he has done to Maleanor and Raverne.
Silver calls him father and Lilia responds, “How dare you call me ‘father,’ loathsome HUMAN?!”
The two do battle, despite Silver insisting that he does not want to fight and that he will never show his face to Lilia again.
Lilia says he will be sending him off to join Maleanor and Raverne, and when he fades into darkness Silver realizes, “This is the darkness my heart gave rise to…” and says that he wishes to sink into “a deeper sleep, one I won’t wake up from…”
Lilia’s voice then comes to him, tell him to stand and that it is okay to run away or use dirty tricks, but he must never, ever give up on living.
Silver fights as he is bade and hears Lilia’s voice telling him, “Well done, Silver. That’s my…” but Silver questions if it was just another vision that he conjured to comfort himself in the dark.
(As of this post Lilia has never referred to Silver as his son. There was a change on EN where he does so during Halloween, but this is not canon to the original game.)
Silver is distraught by the idea that Lilia and Malleus must hate him for his lineage, asking how Lilia must have felt raising someone with the same face as his foe.
He accidentally beats Sebek in a fight for his own sanity and Sebek asks how he could ever say he was not loved: “If he hated you, he didn’t have to give or teach you anything. He could’ve raised you into a dimwitted coward and made you a servant. But he didn’t-and look at you now. Even alone and helpless, you stood firm. You spoke up, unfaltering in the face of our liege’s madness. Even trapped in the darkest despair, you kept on fighting! Who raised you to be so strong? What can you call your strength, if not the direct result of Lilia’s love?!”
Silver realizes that, while he’d thought he had been imagining it, even in the darkness he has been hearing Lilia’s voice telling him to live: “Everything Father taught me proves his love.”
Sebek asks what it is he will do next and Silver says he wants to make his dream of becoming a knight who protects Lilia and Malleus come true.
