Jamil says that the “off-kilter pacing” of Silver’s stories reminds him of Kalim and Silver responds, “I’m honored to be compared to someone so amiable.”
Silver says that Kalim often wakes him up when he dozes off in class, and when they meet possessed-Kalim he pleads, “You’re always so cheerful and kind and fun-loving…you’re a dear friend to me.”
Before the start of Beanfest Silver says that he feels much better having Kalim on his side, and expresses regret when Kalim gets captured.
It seems Kalim boasts often of Jamil to Silver, and we even see Silver go to Kalim for advice about an argument he had with Sebek over whether or not he is not strict enough about protecting Malleus on school grounds.
After learning that Kalim depends on Jamil for personal matters in addition to his duties as vice Housewarden Silver says that Kalim has made him see that being overprotective must be avoided at all costs.
Silver says that he doesn’t exactly have his finger on the pulse of trends or entertainment: when he goes shopping with classmates, he will always browse whetstones and new self-defense tools while the others go for junk food and comics.
But, Silver says Kalim fills him in on “that sort of thing”, as well as inviting him to dorm parties and taking him for magic carpet rides.
Kalim and Silver are two of only three students at NRC who use cosmic magic, with the third being Rook.
Silver begins Beanfest by promising Lilia that he will not allow anything to happen to Malleus, but the first time we see him he has been cornered by ten members of the opposing team and gets rescued by Vil, having not been able to locate Malleus at all.
Vil and Silver team up with members of Octavinelle who immediately turn on them to steal their supplies. Vil rescues Silver a second time by beating down the Octavinelle students who betrayed them and the Savanaclaw students they drafted onto their side. Vil reveals that he was onto the members of Octavinelle from the start, while Silver says that he “didn’t suspect a thing”.
Silver asks Vil why he helped him while being so suspicious of everyone else and Vil responds “You’re the sort of easy mark that takes anything people say at face value.”
Silver takes his leave to resume his search for Malleus alone. Silver and Vil reunite after Malleus has been taken out of the game by Lilia.
Silver seems extremely upset by his failure to protect Malleus, wondering how he can ever face Lilia and Sebek again and asking the others for their help with avenging the fallen prince.
Lilia appears, revealing that he picked up on Silver’s presence and was using him as unknowing bait.
Silver’s group escapes but Lilia and Jamil join forces to take Silver down: he loses the two-against-one fight with Lilia saying, “You clearly need more training…You didn’t protect Malleus, either. You’re growing soft!…methinks I’ll have to go back to basics.” Silver says he has no arguments.
