Following the conclusion of the school’s Halloween party two-thirds of the student body vanishes, the rest are trapped on campus, and time stops at 11:59pm.
Floyd points out that it is still technically Halloween, while Silver shares that both Malleus and Lilia are gone, and that he heard Lilia scream in the night.
A suspicious figure leaves behind an invitation to a new Halloween party and the remaining 1/3rd of student body is swallowed by the Dark Mirror, leaving only Jamil, Floyd, Ruggie, Ortho, Leona, Riddle, Silver, Ace, Sebek, Rook and Trey at the school.
Crewel changes the students into their parade costumes as the party invitation states that there is a dress code and the faculty is unable to attend.
After passing through the dark mirror the students are separated into four groups in four different areas of the spectral realm.
Each group is caught up in a physical altercation with ghosts who say that they are under orders from an unspecified “boss” who has commanded them to gather all living beings.
The ghosts are also collecting mirror shards and carrying invitations that say the shards are an integral part of the Halloween party that awaits them.
Leona, Floyd and Ace learn that becoming startled may result in ghost possession after Ace gets possessed and challenges Leona and Floyd to a fight.
While collecting mirror fragments the different teams discover various students possessed by ghosts: Jack, Jade, Deuce, Epel, Kalim, Azul, Cater, Vil and Idia.
The four separate groups reunite in front of an ornate door.
Through the door is a large hall and an aggressive Lilia who tells Silver to mind his place, and Malleus, playing a pipe organ.
Malleus thanks the group for accepting his invitation, revealing that he is the “boss” whom the ghosts were meant to deliver them to.
Malleus announces that he will be upholding the ultimate Halloween party and the students decide that he and Lilia must be possessed by ghosts.
Lilia sends the kidnapped Night Right College students out to fight them and everyone in the hall begins to battle.
It is revealed that the prefect and Grim have been in the Spectral Realm the entire time, having snacks, and the students realize that Malleus and Lilia were never possessed.
Riddle demands an explanation and a trio of “forgotten ghosts” explain that they arrived at Night Raven College too late to join the Halloween party and were distraught that they had missed it.
The ghosts explain that they had never been invited to a Halloween party before, which resonated with Malleus, who encouraged them to hold a party of their own and offered to keep Halloween from ending: “I will spare no effort to ensure that everyone can experience the joys of a Halloween party.”
Lilia explains he approved of Malleus’ plan, and when the students ask how they were supposed to enjoy being kidnapped the ghosts reveal that the adventure of solving puzzles, escaping enemies and going on “a grand journey” was meant to have been similar to an escape room experience.
Lilia says that his scream at the very beginning of the incident had been a clue meant to reveal him as at the culprit.
Silver asks about the danger of people becoming hurt but Lilia explains the ghosts stated at the start that they would not hurt anyone and that it was a prelude to a party.
The ghosts say that they were attacked before they had a chance to explain, and Lilia says that the possessed students were all members of the Halloween management committee who had been “borrowed” by the ghosts of famous actors who did them no harm.
Lilia is shocked that the students physically attacked the possessed students, while Malleus explains he had been asked to pretend as though he was possessed by the ghost of an evil emperor, and had been told that the students were going sightseeing in the Spectral Realm before the party, apologizing for the trouble he caused.
Lilia also apologizes for making Silver worry.
The mirror fragments are revealed to be the scattered pieces of a broken disco ball that Malleus repairs and, following the party, uses to return the students back to NRC as the sun rises on November 1st.
