Deuce decides to go visit his hometown for the local White Rabbit Festival. They meet Deuce’s mother, Dylla, who has them dress up in White Rabbit costumes to wear while helping with the cronut stall being run by her workplace, White Rabbit Deliveries.
After changing into their costumes they visit the local Hall of Records and have egg sandwiches made by Dylla, then go shopping.
Silver purchases a clock that can record voices to use as an alarm. Deuce records an alarm for Silver that Grim accidentally sets for 4pm instead of 6am.
While at the festival the group shares a jacket potato, sausage rolls, and cronuts from the White Rabbit Deliveries food stall.
The group helps promote cronuts to local visitors. Epel tells them about a troublemaker he heard about named “Cold One Duke” who was rumored to take out big gangs singlehandedly. Epel says, “I was obsessed with learning all about him in middle school!”
A gang called the Black Bunnies causes trouble at the White Rabbit Deliveries food stall, accusing Dylla of getting chocolate on their clothes and demanding that she give them money for cleaning fees. When she threatens to call the police they kick the food stall and break part of a display, inspiring Deuce to intervene.
Deuce takes them up on their offer to fight him but panics when his mother sees him reverting to his old ways. Instead Deuce challenges the gang to race in the festival’s “Rabbit Run” relay race: if the NRC team wins then the gang must apologize to Dylla, and if the Black Bunnies win the NRC team must pay them 100,000 madol (1,000 thaumarks).
Ortho gets lost during the race and falls down a trapdoor after being pushed by a member of the Black Bunnies. He passes the baton to Epel to then also becomes lost. Epel tries to take a shortcut that fills his path with water, and forces his way to Silver, who soon falls asleep on the course.
The alarm clock that Grim mistakenly set for 4pm goes off, waking up Silver, who passes the baton to Deuce.
Deuce takes a shortcut by eating part of a mushroom (EN: loaf of bread) that makes him small enough to fit through a door. The Black Bunny leader tries to step on him and Deuce protects himself by summoning a cauldron.
Deuce regains his usual size and begins to race against the gang leader, who realizes who Deuce really is.
The NRC team wins the race and the Black Bunny leader reveals that Epel’s information was misheard: the infamous person of Clock Town was not Cold One Duke but Cauldron Deuce. Deuce swears that the Black Bunny leader has mistaken him for someone else so as not to reveal his past to the NRC group in a ruse that Dylla supports.
The Black Bunny leader apologizes to Dylla and asks Deuce to become the leader of his gang, but Deuce refuses: “All I want now…is to be an honor student!”
