A few days following the first Vargas Camp another a three-day training camp in the mountains is announced for all arts clubs members. The students must complete various challenges, and the members of any club that fails its tasks will be forced to join sports clubs.
Vargas confiscates the students’ phones and magical pens on the first day, assigning the students to gathering firewood, catching fish and finding a magestone in a nearby mine.
Idia gives Vargas his “extra” smartphone, waits until the camp is empty and then takes out another smartphone to watch videos. Realizing that Idia has disappeared, Ortho leaves the camp to hunt him down.
While looking for a place in the mountains for stargazing Malleus happens upon an unknown entity, which seems to amuse him.
On the second day the students are assigned to finding a lanternblossom, catching a catfish, and digging out a larger magestone from the mine.
Malleus has not returned to camp, but the students are not overly concerned.
The ceiling of the mine seems to have collapsed overnight.
Vil and Azul conclude that the missing Shroud brothers are intentionally skipping out on their duties.
Vil spots an unidentifiable shadow in the mine, saying “it was clearly inhuman,” but it was seen by no one else and Vil second guesses himself.
Cater, Jade and Kalim happen upon a fallen tree that had not been there the day before, blocking a path.
That night Azul and Vil report the missing Idia and Ortho to Vargas and Kalim and Trey report the missing Malleus and Lilia, but Vargas is not worried.
In Vargas’ cottage he assigns Grim and the prefect the role of playing up to the students that he was attacked by a monster. Azul, however, immediately guesses that this is a ruse on Vargas’ part, with Jade and Trey making the connection that this is likely another challenge.
The students decide to stay up through the night, with people disappearing.
Suddenly the fire goes out and something unseen begins to attack with stones, scattering the students who disappear in the darkness until only Azul, Vil, Jade and Trey remain, regrouping at the lake.
They create a plan to attack back the next time that the shadow comes for them using magestones that Azul gathered from the mine, as they do not have access to their magical pens, and knock it into the lake.
Azul offers the use of his magestones in exchange for Vil and Trey helping at Mostro Lounge.
Vil lures the shadow to the lake, immobilizes it, and it is revealed to be Vargas.
Vargas explains that the “shadow” attack was the final challenge of the camp, with the other students tied up in the woods and Idia doing nonstop squats in a cabin under Ortho’s supervision for breaking the rules.
Vargas delcares that the group has passed the final challenge, only to be suddenly takes away by a different shadowy creature, with Grim: the same shadow that Vil saw in the mine the day before.
Vil questions if Malleus and Lilia were taken by this new monster.
They infiltrate the mine and evacuate the bound and gagged Vargas and Grim, doing battle with the monster with what Vargas describes as “incredible teamwork.”
The new monster is revealed to be Crewel, dressed in a costume designed by Vargas.
Vargas explains that he changed up the final challenge for the arts clubs for just in case anyone had been warned by the members of the athletic clubs of what was to come. Malleus and Lilia then reveal themselves, explaining that they had been approached by Crewel to help increase the difficulty, with Malleus creating a maze within the mine and and Lilia felling a tree to block a mountain path.
At the conclusion of the event, Azul reminds Vil and Trey of their promise to work at Mostro Lounge.
