Kalim has stated multiple times that he likes flashy outfits, saying that he would prefer their costumes for the VDC competition in book 5 to have “a little more razzle-dazzle” and that the pop music club should bedazzle themselves with jewels for a live show.
He decorates Ruggie with large gems during Fairy Gala, and Crewel refers to the ensemble as “tasteless”, saying, “someone might call it downright tacky.”
Despite this preference for flashiness, however, Kalim says that he loves the color white and always picks out white fabric whenever he gets outfits tailored.
NRC’s music club only has three members, and Cater says that part of the problem might have been Lilia’s performance during the previous year’s club recruitment fair, when Lilia was “shrieking and smashing guitars”, and also leapt off the stage onto the ground in a failed stage-dive attempt.
Kalim was the only one student they managed to recruit. He says, “I thought it was fun! I’d never seen anything like it.” In a vignette Cater says that he has “a ton of dirt” on Kalim, but what exactly he knows has not been revealed.
Kalim has told Jamil that he wants a parrot for the dorm. Rook refers to Kalim as both roi Dore (which is not a word) and Roi Doré. “D’or” is also a possibility.
Floyd refers to Kalim as Sea Otter because he always looks so happy when playing the drums. Like Cater, Kalim also enjoys skateboarding.
Kalim may have a thing for defending people: we see him (unsuccessfully) go to Epel’s aid twice in Book 5. Ruggie may not have an overly favorable opinion of Kalim: While recognizing the chance to “score some hand-me-downs”, Ruggie also has a voice line about how he thinks not being rich is “leagues better than being a spoiled brat who’s never worked a day in his life”.
While this could be referring to Kalim, Leona or Malleus, Kalim is the only one referenced in his ceremonial robes vignette.
Ruggie also refers to how throwing “money and bodies at problems to make them go away” is “classic Kalim” and calls him a “silver spooner” multiple times.
In another vignette Ruggie insinuates that he would rather work for Leona than Kalim (“Kalim’s so nice it’d just make me uncomfortable”) despite acknowledging how he is an “honest-to-goodness nice guy”.
