Vil and Ace

Vil says that he isn’t sure whether to describe Ace as pampered or simply cocky, and, “If he were in my dorm, he’d get a much firmer hand.”

Vil also describes Ace as, “A spudling who has smarts, but gets easily carried away and always botches things at a critical moment,” a fast talker and “a spudling still packed in dirt.”

Ace asks Vil to stand in line at a ride for him at Playfulland, shocking Jack (“Are you seriously asking an upperclassman to stand in line for you?”), but he explains that Vil sounded worn out after the performance they put on and the line is in a shaded area where he can even sit by flowers, the perfect spot for a nice rest, offering to get Vil something to drink.

In response Vil says that Ace is truly shameless, picks the oddest times to show his smarts and stand his ground, and must be “quite the rogue” for being able to slip out of Heartslabyul: “It’s a good thing Pomefiore didn’t get any freshmen as wily and rambunctious as you.”

Vil is Ace’s second birthday interviewer and tells him he would be a gem worth polishing. When Ace says he wouldn’t want to transfer into Pomefiore because Vil is as demanding as Riddle, which would defeat the purpose of changing dorms at all, Vil responds, “Has it never occurred to you that you could try to be a better person?”

Vil’s birthday gift for Ace is a pair of sunglasses from a high-end brand (gold frames with brown lenses) that Vil was able to fit into the school’s budget by buying them at sample rates after being supplied a pair for a magazine shoot.

Ace comments on Vil switching “into scary mode” during Fairy Gala IF, but when Ortho begins to struggle with his assignment and Silver expresses concert, Vil says that he is not worried because Ortho is with “a rather thoughtful classmate,” who is revealed to be Ace.
