Vil and Confidence

When Idia makes a comment about Vil parading around without worrying what other people think Vil corrects him, saying, “I daresay I worry about that more than anyone else…I can’t stand the thought of being exposed to the public, unarmed and defenseless. That’s why I work on myself so I CAN be confident in front of others.”

Vil’s tsum is described as “just oozing confidence,” by Idia.

During Spectral Soiree Vil is possessed by a ghost who cries over not being noticed and Sebek asks, “What’s with the crisis of confidence? It’s hard to believe this is the same person who commands such a powerful presence on campus!”

The ghost declares that Vil’s beauty is his only redeeming feature and Sebek follows up with, “His lack of confidence is but an act to mask his utter vanity!”

The ghost bemoans the body it has possessed, saying that “such a beautiful creature is destined to suffer” and “Everyone’s gaze will be riveted on me at all times! People will go crazy over me…ohhh, the horror! How…how can I be so awe-inspiringly stunning?!”

When Azul describes Vil as the textbook definition of an influencer Vi responds, “That’s basic information —hardly worth calling attention to,” and he encourages the prefect to find a hundred things to compliment about his beauty for his birthday, saying, “Simple enough, I should think.”

After being rejected by Eliza, Vil reacts with “How dare you rebuff my advances! You need to get over yourself,” and when Rook comments on how Vil’s beauty has captivated everyone, including himself, Vil responds, “Naturally. I have attained the height of aesthetic perfection, flawless from every angle.”

Vil has a voice line of, “Admiration nurtures the seed of beauty. By all means, fall for me.”

When a reporter mistakes Azul, Jamil and Ace for models Vil responds, “I suppose I can’t blame you for getting carried away in my dazzling presence” and then explains that they are actually his “humble and obedient attendants.”

On the subject of the tournament he participates in during the Cloudcalling event Vil says that the spectators are lucky to get to see his “elegant form” up close.

He reflects on how dashing he would look behind the wheel of a stylish car (he does not yet have a driver’s license, but would like to get one someday), and tells Sebek that any team he is on is guaranteed victory.

When Ortho convinces him to take a photo in a standee at Playfulland Vil responds, “this is MY face we’re talking about. You had better be immensely grateful!,” and there is an interaction between Vil, Ortho, Ace and Kalim where he describes them all as “such poor-quality spudlings, they couldn’t even make decent mashed potatoes to serve with steak” (and himself as “a world-famous supermodel with overwhelming charisma”).

Ace responds, “Are you the steak in that analogy?”

After protecting Ortho from a collapsed window Vil assures the group that his face escaped unscathed.

In his school uniform vignette Vil says (to no one in particular) that he is “the picture of perfection.”

When his father asks Azul, Ace and Jamil what Vil is like at school Vil encourages them to speak freely, saying, “I’ve certainly done nothing I’m afraid of others hearing about.”

In a voice line where he encourages the prefect to pay attention to the exhibits at a museum rather than himself, the line “focus on the paintings now” was removed.

The original line is closer to, “You are looking at me far too much for someone surrounded by so many wonderful exhibits. I understand how you feel, but focus on the paintings now.”
