Despite how Vil enjoyed riding the Playfulland roller coaster with Jade he does not enjoy the process of moving between dreams via Silver’s unique magic, clinging to Silver and saying he now knows how it feels to be a frozen blueberry in a blender.
Vil is so shaken by the process of dream-hopping that he requires a moment to recover, which seems to confuse him: “I’m fine with flight magic, and last I checked, I’m not terribly prone to motion sickness…”
(There is a fan theory that Vil’s sensitivity to the sensation of falling is a reference to how the Fairest Queen died in the original animated Snow White movie: falling from a great height.)
Vil dislikes the experience of dream-hopping so much that he excuses himself from the group rather than continue on to another dream after awaking Jamil, saying that larger groups are more prone to bugs when traveling, but “more to the point, I don’t think I can take any more of these dream crossings!”
Jade is Vil’s third-birthday interviewer and Vil compliments him, saying that Jade can handle anything you task him with and that his style of interviewing was better than most reporters.
When students start disappearing during Vargas Camp Jade comments that “They must have been QUITE afraid of Vil’s ire…” (Vil: “Even in a time of crisis you just have to get a dig in, don’t you?”)
When Vil considers having the Film Research Club spend a few nights camping and filming as a training exercise Jade volunteers to help.
In Jade’s dorm vignette he approaches Vil about transferring to Pomefiore, saying that Vil has “the makings of a true leader.”
Vil does not believe him (“He obviously has some ulterior motive”), but decides to humor Jade as he has heard rumors that he is like a gifted secretary who fulfills Azul’s every wish.
Vil says Jade was “the perfect assistant from his very first day on the job,” and Jade is even able to procure a pair of fabled Ténèbres mirror heels that Vil was not able to acquire for himself, despite his industry connections.
Vil makes a strong of requests of Jade to test how far he will go to meet his every need and Jade has already foreseen and fulfilled every task before it is assigned to him.
Jade abruptly announces that he is returning to Octavinelle without Vil ever learning what it was that he was after, but Vil decides that he is willing to look the other way for the sake of the shoes he has acquired.
Vil is proven to have been correct from the beginning: Jade’s ulterior motive was getting Vil to promote a drink being sold at Mostro Lounge on Magicam, which he succeeded in doing, without Vil’s notice.
