Vil describes Jamil as “boring and always worrying needlessly behind the scenes,” but recommends that the prefect take him with them if they go shopping, as Jamil is “very proactive about carrying bags and parcels.”
In a Beanfest voice line Vil says, “Those who play their cards close to their chest have a knack for distasteful tactics, I find. I’ll need to watch out for Jamil.”
During Port Fest Vil has his group prepare salads for festival visitors, praising Jamil for his ability to create an oil-free, low-calorie, low-sodium dressing “with a flavor that is second to none.”
Vil says it is marvelous and he would expect nothing less from Jamil, asking for the recipe to share with Pomefiore’s students, and Jamil agrees.
Vil is impressed by Jamil’s catwalk during Fairy Gala but not by his dancing, saying his performance lacks charisma and asking if he knows what he is missing. Jamil asks to be allowed to discover his problem on his own, learns a certain type of dance from Idia, and earns Vil’s praise.
Vil says, “That’s right-the most critical component to a show is releasing one’s inner passion. And now your passion is reaching the whole venue, Jamil. Bravo.”
After Vil’s overblot Jamil comes up with the idea of explaining away how they have all gotten so worn down with, “let’s just say we got a little overly worked up in practice and got into a team brawl.”
Vil asks if he intends to pretend at all of it never happened and Jamil responds, “I never said that. All I’m saying is that we can hold off on explaining this to the faculty until after the competition.
Vil says that Jamil is “truly wicked.”
When offered a video game while captive at STYX in Book 6 Jamil instead defers his turn to Vil. Ortho recommends “Star Rogue: A Hero’s Dawn” for “a global supermodel and shining star.”
After Vil escapes from the room in which he had been locked, Jamil is the first person that he frees.
In order to wake Kalim up from his dream Vil says that Jamil is “poised and ready to strike at the neck of those who dare get ahead of him” beneath his composed expression: “He has a smoldering, hungry mindset…and that mindset is the reason I put Jamil on main vocals in the NRC Tribe.”
Vil asks Kalim if Jamil is “the kind of generous soul that affirms everything about you,” saying that both he and Kalim know that such is not true: “He complains. He secretly looks down on others.
He’s always got a scheme or two up his sleeve, and he’s hardly trustworthy. If I were in your shoes, l’d never choose him for my most trusted retainer.”
