Vil and Jobs (pt2)

Idia confirms that Vil did not get any specialized training before enrolling at NRC, saying that his magic pool, manifestation speed and potency are all remarkably high, with “pretty impressive” numbers for someone with no other magical education.

Vil explains that he had enough to focus on between traveling the world with his actor father and growing his acting career, so he wasn’t able to drop everything and enroll in a magic school just because his powers manifest, which is why he had no magic training prior to NRC. Vil says, “No one around me was able to offer instruction either. Even if my father was able to use magic, which he isn’t, he was far too busy.”

Vil says that, after enrolling in school, he decided to refuse any job offers that required extended shooting so that he can focus on his studies, as such projects can last for multiple years.

Despite this it seems Vil comes close to accepting a movie role in Book 5 when he is offered a role in a sequel to a “mega-hit title with box office revenue topping two hundred million thaumarks” called Legendary Sword. Vil is unimpressed by being typecast into “pretty villain” roles, but says he will consider it depending on who has been cast as the hero. It is revealed to be Neige, and Vil turns down the offer.

During the Tapis Rouge event Vil says that when he was accepted into NRC he wasn’t sure what he should do and if it would be worth putting his acting career on hold, but he chose to enroll even if it meant he got to work less.

He says that his life at NRC has been even more enriching than he had imagined, and it is clear that he has made the right choice.

Vil says that he is thinking of applying to a film studio for the first quarter of his 4th-year internship, as he is interested in potionology but doesn’t have any plans to continue his education at the moment. Vil explains that he has passed up on a lot of jobs while devoting himself to his studies, and has concluded that his dream is to expression is own vision of the greatest form of beauty: “So from the second quarter onward, I’ll be selecting internships that dovetail with that goal.”
