Vil suggests that Sebek make himself look more presentable during New Year and Sebek is scandalized to realized that his hair is a mess.
Vil is surprised that Sebek actually cares about his appearance, saying that he also believes in being dressed and groomed properly for a given occasion and would have never expected that they would have that in common.
Sebek demands to know the secret to how it is that Vil still looks pristine despite the hard work of the day, and Vil says that step one is that he learn the proper way to make such a request, name-dropping Malleus to convince Sebek to ask politely.
Vil decides to overlook Sebek’s earlier transgressions and shows Sebek the secret to keeping his hair looking proper: hair wax. From the side Cater and Ruggie comment that Vil and Sebek are suddenly working in perfect harmony.
Vil says that another reason that Sebek’s hair is suddenly holding up is that they have started cooperating during matches, and Sebek says that he has learned a lot.
Vil says, “Let’s continue to support one another and preserve our energy-and hair-during the matches,” and Sebek offers to procure anything that Vil may want from Briar Valley in order to thank Vil properly. Vil requests plants that are native to the area for his personal care products, and Sebek agrees to send for them.
Sebek reflects, “I initially thought he was simply a nagging human, but he’s actually much more down-to-earth than I realized.”
Vil is one of multiple characters (including Sebek and Ortho) who has repeatedly stated that he does not go easy on others, always plays to win, never holds back in competitions, etc., but when he and Sebek start working too well together and begin intimidating customers with their winning streaks he suggests taking it easy on them and letting them win.
Sebek is vehemently against this, so they work out a strategy where they play to their opponents’ strengths so that they keep their motivation to fight but do not actually win.
