Vil and Skincare (pt2)

During Vargas Camp Vil picks peppermint and thyme for Film Research Club members to use as bug repellant, explaining, “Being itchy isn’t the issue. What’s worse is that the bite can swell up and turn red. Sometimes it can even leave scars.”

Vil refuses Leona’s invitation to the Cloudcalling event, until Leona mentions Ivory Springs, where “the face packs and mineral water…are said to be second to none.”

To convince a reluctant Vil to join the tournament in his hometown (“I’d hoped to visit at some point, but I can do that easily enough on my own. Certainly that will be more pleasant than going with you”), Leona offers to escort him to exclusive locales within Ivory Springs open only to the royal family.

Vil agrees to join the tournament, and is rewarded with an exclusive opportunity to go in a hot spring that is restricted to all but the royal family. Afterwards Vil says, “The water made my skin so smooth. I’ve somehow become even more beautiful” and that it was worth the effort to visit.

Vil says that the comments on his Magicam posts are typically filled with fans seeking his help for advice, and for a while the most common query was how to get beautiful skin. Vil says there are so many variables consider, from age to diet, and “Do they really expect me to go to such lengths to devise a routine for a stranger?”

Jack asks what kind of research he does and Vi explains, “When I started out, I’d experiment with all manner of consumer skincare products and record how they affected my skin. I also made sure to document any changes brought about by diet or environment. Then I did a deep dive into the active ingredients in skincare products, experimenting to find the most effective combinations.”

Vil says he tries to “get enough good fats with every meal” as high quality oils are essential for beautiful skin, and even his tsum turns its nose up at a student who has yet to remove his makeup: “Guess its resemblance to our housewarden isn’t just superficial. It’s serious about maintaining flawless skin!”

Vil says that he feels that the air in the Fairest City does wonders for his skin, and he picks up a gift set of the hibiscus and baobab mixed drink he tries during the Cloudcalling event, saying, “my skin deserves something special, too.”
