When Trey attempts to collect a wish from Vil for the event Vil refuses outright, as “hoping for a miracle without putting in the work to make it happen is the epitome of indolence. I make my own miracles.” He eventually makes the wish of “quit nagging me right now” to get Trey to leave him alone.
Vil seems to be suspicious of Trey, saying that “He’s the type of man one must truly watch himself around—the kind who spoils people rotten under the guise of knowing what’s best”.
Vil is Trey’s judge for Master Chef, where Trey explains that he made substitutions to the recipe in order to cut down on the fat and sugar content. Vil says, “You addressed my concern before I could even finish voicing it. You’re too considerate by half. It’s almost galling.”
When Trey offers Ruggie a backup pizza to compensate for what Kalim had not been able to produce Vil again reflects that he spoils people rotten, saying that the way Trey stays on top of every eventuality is a bad habit.
Vil calls Trey out on bailing out Heartslabyul students when they botch their cooking and explains it is a problem, as babying people “can rob them of potential learning experiences. There’s a balance to be struck.”
Vil runs into Trey directly after being told by Rook that he has been gaining weight, only for Trey to offer him a cake. Vil responds, “Take my portion and give it to Rook. Force-feed it to him, if you have to.”
Trey invites Vil back to Heartsabyul to talk and Vil explains his situation and compliments Trey, which Trey tries to play down. Vil insists, “You should learn to take a compliment. Those with no appreciation for character would take your modesty at face value. Of course, if that’s the image you want to manufacture for yourself, don’t let me stop you. You’re only shooting yourself in the foot.”
Trey insists that Riddle does not stress him out because he never skips out on sweets, and “that goes double for cake with lots of fruit”. Vil acquiesces and agrees to eat the offered slice of cake, saying, “Let me know if Riddle ever decides to have your head. My dorm would hire you on as our patissier in a heartbeat.”
