Vil, Perceptive

The Fairest Queen’s “keen, observant nature” is said to have “served to bolster her beauty”, which may be why Vil himself seems very perceptive.

When Epel accuses Rook of lying about the quality of their VDC performance Vil defends him, saying, “he didn’t say anything about it being our most beautiful.”

Rook responds, “…Your powers of perception are unparalleled.”

He is able to tell that Lilia performs with “none of the youthful vim one would expect from a student”, that Jamil covered for Kalim’s mistakes during Fairy Gala and notices when Leona has a loose button on his vest.

Vil is also able to tell when a group of Octavinelle students is planning on betraying him during Beanfest, saying that “spotting betrayals is trivial” for him, and he makes the connection between the amount of rare gear that Azul is wearing during the event and when, a year prior, Azul questioned him about Beanfest “to an unusual degree”.

Vil notices when Cater lies about preparing only three mandrakes for a class assignment, and sees through Jamil’s “lukewarm flattery” when Jamil approaches him for a favor in a vignette.

While suspecting Jade of a hidden agenda in Jade’s dorm vignette he is never able to pinpoint exactly what Jade’s intentions had been, and dismisses the concern after Jade’s acquiring of a pair of Ténèbres heels for him results in his being named brand ambassador.

It has yet to be confirmed if he ever realized Jade’s secret motivation was for him to promote a drink on Magicam to increase sales at Mostro Lounge.

While descending to Tartarus to save the world from Idia, Vil accurately deduces that Idia simply wishes to be normal, saying, “I’m going to crush their little dream for my own sake. And by the same token, they can fight their hardest to destroy ours. In the shadow of one person’s happy ending, another cries. But no matter whose tears are shed, it’s never personal.”

Vil also accurately predicts Fellow as being “a charlatan capable of passing lies off as the honest truth” before they have even met, though he admits that Fellow managed to fool him over the course of their day at the park.

Vil also predicts that Fellow has a trump card up his sleep: the unique magic that convinces people to do things they might not normally be willing to do.

When Epel accuses Rook of lying about the quality of their VDC performance Vil says, “he didn’t say anything about it being our most beautiful.” Rook responds, “…Your powers of perception are unparalleled,” but Vil says he never noticed that Rook was a fan of Neige’s.
