In the original game/manga/anime, Grim is consistently referred to as a Tanuki.
This was retained in volume 1 of the EN manga, possibly because of an illustration of a tanuki. It is then changed to “weasel” in volume 2 of the EN manga (and it is always changed to “weasel” in the EN game).
It is possibly for this same reason that tanuki was also not localized (at first) in the EN dubbed anime, but after the tanuki illustration disappears it is never said again, changed to “raccoon” for the remainder of the episode. In the EN subtitles no one says tanuki at all, with the word always localized as “raccoon.”
