Deuce, Athletic

Deuce says it “feels good to exercise. You can just empty your head and go. I love it,” and that he mostly spends his weekends doing physical training.

Deuce says he is confident in his athletic abilities and comfortable with physical competitions, particularly emphasizing his stamina. Ace agrees, “he’s got an absurd amount of stamina.”

After failing to make the Heartslabyul spelldrive team in Book 2 Deuce is aiming to be able to participate next year.

A member of the track-and-field team Deuce is canonically fast on his feet. He tells Sebek about a time a rulebreaker at Heartslabyul tried to run away from Riddle, and Deuce chased him down: “I haven’t been working on my sprints and leg strength in the Track and Field Club for nothing!”

We have also seen examples of Deuce’s physical strength: after he wins an award for his achievements as a national Track and Field Meet he runs into students who take it from him and refuse to give it back. Deuce’s catches the bully’s arm to force his compliance (“I—I can’t move my arm! What kinda freakazoid strength—!?”)

Deuce also physically grapples with upperclassmen in a vignette (“Agh, my arm ain’t budgin’…Owww! My shoulder’s gonna pop out!”)

Deuce says that, if he were ever stuck on a deserted island, he “could totally handle lifting heavy stuff like logs.”
