Silver tends to take what people to say to him very literally: when Silver assumes he and Malleus are friends, Leona says he must be dreaming. Silver responds, “In fact, I am very much awake,” much to Leona’s annoyance.

A similarly annoyed Jamil encourages Silver to talk turning the Spectral Soiree event as “Talking to us might help you stay awake” and Silver responds, “That’s very considerate of you. I was actually getting a bit drowsy.”

Ruggie attempts to joke with Silver about teaching him to haggle should Silver “ever end up out on the street”, and Silver responds with “Thanks”. Ruggie explains he is supposed to say something like, “Me, living like a peasant? That’d never happen!”

When Silver presses Leona for information about Malleus, Leona lies about having seen him. Silver believes him without question.

Later Silver says Lilia would be overjoyed to learn that Malleus has made a friend. Leona again asks if he doesn’t listen to a word anyone says.

During Vargas Camp the Equestrian Team is able to earn a Vargas Badge thanks to Sebek’s efforts, but Silver compliments him on getting dried off and cleaning his clothes, instead, possibly in reference to Sebek’s labwear vignette where he failed to clean a stain.

After a dramatic call for vengeance during Beanfest (and a retelling of his childhood, befriending bears), Jack, Vil and Jamil marvel at how difficult it is to tell the difference between when Silver is joking and when he is being serious.

Silver seems unaware of Malleus “brimming with jealousy” while staring at Sebek in his ceremonial robes, saying, “He seems fine to me.”

Silver can misunderstand Sebek, at times. He explains that ever since Sebek has grown taller than him, Sebek gets a “triumphant look” every time Silver asks him to get dishes from a high shelf.

Not realizing that Sebek takes pride in being the larger of the two, Silver decides that Sebek simply “gets enjoyment out of fetching things from high places”, and he does not want to spoil Sebek’s fun.

For this constant obliviousness to everything around him, Ruggie says that Silver is known one half of what EN calls “the Facepalm Brigade”, known on JP as “ira-fuwa”: a combination of the word “irritating” (ira-ira) and “fluffy” (fuwa-fuwa) to describe how people get annoyed with how oblivious Silver and Kalim can be.

When Idia wishes for some of Azul’s “shadiness” during Glorious Masquerade to counteract Rook’s bright smile and extrovert aura Silver responds, “you think it’s too bright out? I guess the brim of your hat isn’t all that wide.”

Rook offers Idia his hat, instead, and Ruggie says that Rook’s obliviousness reminds him of the ira-fuwa pair.

It seems that the nickname is also used amongst more students than only Ruggie, with an unnamed Heartslabyul character using it to describe Silver in a vignette.

We receive another ira-fuwa combi moment in Malleus’ dorm vignette, where Malleus forcibly transports the housewadens to Diasomnia and Silver greets them with “Greetings, friends of Malleus.”

Kalim says he is happy to visit and the rest of the housewardens react with, “ARE YOU KIDDING RIGHT NOW?!”

When the prefect asks Silver what it is that he wants with the intention of getting him a birthday gift, Silver responded, “more time for training.”

Other examples we have of Silver’s obliviousness are his willingness to dress up in a rabbit costume for the White Rabbit Fes event, saying that he sees no reason not to while Epel wonders if he and Deuce are actually the weird ones for not wanting to do so.

During the Rabbit Run race Silver seems unaware of his opponents attempts to mock him to his face:

Delinquent C: You scared?
Silver: Not in the least. But I appreciate your concern.
Delinquent C: Don’t play games with me, pal!
Silver: I wouldn’t dream of it. Have a good race.

When asked if he gets nervous in front of crowds (in reference to his Fairy Gala performance) Silver responds, “Why would the number of people watching have bearing on a demonstration of might?”
