A Scarabia student mentions receiving advice from Jamil, and when Ace asks for advice from Jamil on dancing in Book 5, Jamil agrees (“Teaching makes good practice for me, so…sure”).
Jamil advises the group of first-years on how to dance, finding things to compliment about even Grim’s progress, and both Ace and Deuce successfully pass the VDC audition (to Grim, Jamil says, “I think even Vil would be hard-pressed to fit YOU on the team”).
Ace mentions Jamil teaching Floyd how to dance during Basketball Club practice in what is possibly a reference to a vignette where Floyd unilaterally decides to teach himself how to breakdance, resulting in Jamil intervening and giving him advice.
During Book 6 Jamil insists on trying to protect Leona even after Leona has expressed his disapproval, saying, “He’ll be in for a very rude awakening if he keeps acting like this. And then he’ll rue the day he ignored my advice,” but by the deeper levels of Tartarus Jamil realizes he was mistaken and reflects, “I thought I could protect this guy?”
During New Year Jamil and Malleus are met with the challenge of counteracting Malleus’ “undeservedly fearsome reputation.” Jamil advises Malleus try “making (himself) more approachable” and when Malleus tries teaching himself how to magically manipulate a shishimai puppet, he asks Jamil for his opinion.
Jamil does not offer advice so much as the impression that the Malleus-controlled puppet leaves on him, but it Jamil’s idea for the store to later start selling miniature shishimai as souvenirs.
During his Master Chef course Deuce calls Jamil over to his side of the kitchen for advice on what kind of dishes he should make for his mother, and is please by Jamil pointing out that, rather than ask other people, “an idea should come to you when you think about the person you’re cooking for.”
