Riddle and Lilia

During the Stitch Event Riddle observes, “Floyd on his own is aggravating enough, but having to deal with Lilia’s unpredictable behavior on top of his…They’re the worst possible pair to be stuck with during an emergency!”

During the event Lilia encourages a reluctant Riddle to dance as Floyd plays the ukulele, and he ultimately agrees, telling Azul, “It’s okay to stumble. Just relax and let me be the lead.”

When Lilia and Floyd decide to be in a group together Riddle protests, saying, “Floyd’s dangerous and Lilia’s freewheeling. There’s no telling what chaos could ensue if they shared a team.”

Put in a group with Riddle and Jack Lilia says, “But I wanted to team up with Floooyd! It would’ve been so much more fun than this team!,” and Riddle responds, “You’d pick Floyd over me? That’s absurd! I don’t come up short in any regard compared to him!”

Jack says that he is “way more fun” and when Lilia asks, “How so?,” Riddle says, “1, um… I know the most appropriate jokes to tell at tea parties! I read them in an etiquette book once.” Lilia replies, “Oh, this is already fun. I couldn’t have asked for better teammates to tease!”

Lilia assures his teammates that he is an authority on survival and asks, “So will you trust me?,” and Riddle says, “I hate to admit it, but my survivalist knowledge is…scant. In light of your familiarity with this field, it seems prudent to defer to your opinion.”

Later Riddle says, “Lilia’s shared much in the way of life experience one can’t get from books. It’s been very educational for me.”

Lilia tells Riddle, “It’s good to be diligent. But in my opinion, you could stand to have more fun and enjoy our time here for what it is,” but Riddle replies, “Easier said than done. I still have reservations about spending my time unproductively.”

In response, Lilia decides to hold a Beach Flags Tournament between the students. Riddle is surprised to see the others diving into the side but Lilia insists, “Plunging into the sand with gusto is, in effect, mandatory. It’s vital to the game!,” and Riddle responds, “ It’s mandatory?! Ah… All right. If that’s the rule, then I’ll have to obey it.”

Ace whispers “I don’t remember hearing about any such rule,” and Lilia replies, “It’s more entertaining—ah, I mean engaging—that way.”

Riddle’s response to these instructions is to capture a flag first and then flop onto the sand afterwards, telling Floyd that he does not know how to dive. Floyd says, “Just kick off into the sand like you would into the water,” and Riddle responds, “What are you talking about? When entering water, you should acclimate yourself gradually, one foot at a time!” Lilia observes, “He’s got some rather stubborn ideas.”

When Lilia announces himself as the leader of Class E for Port Fest, which includes Riddle, Riddle says, “Lilia tends to get carried away. I also would’ve preferred Trey to be our leader, no question…I would’ve put myself forward if I were a junior, but alas.

When Lilia prepares a clam chowder of a “particular color” at their food stall Jade asks if they shouldn’t stop him and Riddle responds, “Food crimes or no, Lilia is Class E’s leader today. Besides, I believe he’s just trying to inject some joviality into the proceedings for the underclassmen.” (Trey: “…l think you guys might be a little off on that.”)

At Lilia’s farewell party of Book 7 Riddle thanks him for his support during the inter-dorm spelldrive tournament, while Lilia responds, “You helped ensure there were no casualties among Diasomnia’s students or the spectators. I should thank you again on Malleus’s behalf.”

“On a more personal note,” Riddle says that Sebek and Silver have told him often about receiving guidance from Lilia: “I’d hoped to get a lesson in horsemanship from you if the opportunity presented itself…It’s truly a shame that you’re leaving.” Lilia replies, “Oh, they’re both exaggerating. Don’t take those claims too seriously.”
