When Floyd unilaterally decides to compete with the members of his group during the Stitch event Riddle says, “I never agreed to your competition anyway. I’m not a child,” but we have seen examples of what may be a competitive nature: When Grim and Jade race to be the first to sit on a bench during the Eternity Float event Riddle says, “You don’t need to rush. It’s large enough to seat us all,” only to immediately join in with Rook and Malleus. Riddle says, “I just didn’t want to let someone beat me…”
During the first New Years event Riddle orders Heartslabyul students to rush to the register at the school store so as not to lose out to other students (“We must procure those mystery bags at all costs!”), though he later apologizes for failing to learn the appropriate customer etiquette for what Cater had told him was “a popular youth activity.”
After the events of the Lantern event Riddle tells Deuce that, should they ever have another race similar to what they had in the library, he “certainly won’t lose,” and when preparing ideas for Halloween during the first NBC event he declares, “We must illustrate to them that our Halloween is clearly the best one!”
Lilia announces a Beach Flags competition during the Stitch Event, with a fruit parfait made by Floyd promised to the winner (Riddle: “If there’s a parfait-*cough*—if there’s special training involved, then I won’t give this anything less than my best”).
In the final round of the game the two last contestants are Jack and Riddle, with Ace commenting, “really don’t see how anyone can beat Jack. Not even my housewarden…” and Azul agreeing, with, “Their differences in physique are quite telling. With magic not allowed, Riddle’s chances are looking slim indeed.”
Jack is spooked by hermit crabs and Riddle dives face-first into the sand (Azul: “Has he ever heard of exercising restraint?”), getting sand in his mouth but successfully winning the game. He immediately goes to Ace, saying, “I got the flag! I did it! I won! Did you see that, Ace?!”
