Riddle, Compliments

Riddle praises the effort put into decorating Heartslabyul for his birthday, even complimenting a tablecloth with crooked embroidery by Ace and Deuce, saying, “that inherent uniqueness makes it charming.”

Riddle says, “Clearly I must do my part as the guest of honor to acknowledge and respond to these sentiments,” and he is often complimenting other characters throughout the game.

After hearing about Cater’s adventures during the Diner event Riddle says, “As housewarden of Heartslabyul, I’m quite proud of you.”

Riddle compliments Deuce for looking “positively gallant” in his Glorious Masquerade outfit, saying he “could be a knight who stepped straight out of a historic painting.” Deuce responds, “hearing you say that makes me feel a lot more comfortable.”

Riddle thanks Epel for his help with the firelotuses and then again praises Deuce, saying, “I heard you performed just as admirably as Epel did. You showed courage in rescuing Idia, and made a quick, crucial decision to trust Azul with your most valuable spell. You’ve performed admirably,” and that he wishes to hold a tea party in Deuce’s honor.

Later, Riddle compliments Malleus on having deeper understanding of the lyrics of the song they performed, saying that his insight and feelings surely “played a part in (his) stellar performance.”

During Vargas Camp Riddle praises Sebek for giving a detailed overview of magestones, paying close attention in class, and saving their club from disbandment.

During the first NBC even Riddle calls Trey “the pride of Heartslabyul,” saying, “I’m proud to have such a capable vice housewarden, truly!”

When Riddle suggests that Ace must have “excellent spatial awareness” Ace suspects it is a backhanded compliment, and is surprised to learn that he was being complimented sincerely. Riddle responds, “Don’t be rude. I know how to recognize exceptional talent when I see it. Provided it’s a rule-abiding talent.”

When Ace begins praising Idia at the conclusion of the Phantom Bride event Riddle is, in turn, suspicious of Ace’s “non-backhanded compliments.” After Ace summarizes Idia’s situation (“the whole day culminated in him getting dumped at the altar”) Riddle compliments Idia more than anyone, praising his appearance, saying he does diligence to the King of the Underworld’s spirit of diligence, that he should take pride in his work and is the most eligible bachelor of them all.

Riddle compliments Ortho prior to his Fairy Gala IF performance, saying that Ortho has a fine attitude and exemplifies “Ignihyde’s spirit of diligence,” as well as telling Ortho of how the other students have also been praising his skills and efforts.

Riddle tells the recently-enrolled Ortho, “I’m sure your housewarden is proud to have another exceptional student in his dorm. And I’m glad to study alongside you, Ortho Shroud.” Ortho responds, “What a thing to hear from the Heartslabyul housewarden…now I REALLY have to work hard.”

Riddle also praises Jack during the same event, saying that his efforts to walk in heels “are paying off,” and again during the Lantern event on Jack’s painting abilities, saying, “This, combined with how convincingly you painted the lanterns, has me seriously impressed with your observational skills.”

Jack reflects, “Never thought I’d get so many compliments for just painting a picture…”
